Wiesmann Takes The Future BMW M5 Engine

The engine that will power the upcoming BMW M5 is already entered in Wiesmann range, in a less strong version. The V8 twin-turbo unit developing 407 HP, respectively 555 HP for MF4 and MF5 models.

Wiesmann, the niche models automaker announced that it will replace the V10 engine from MF4 and MF5 models with a V8 twin-turbo engine that develops 407 HP, respectively 555 HP. The unit will allow for the MF4 model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 181 mph. In the case of MF5 model, the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is achieved in 3.9 seconds and the top speed is 193 mph. The MF5′s engine is taken directly from BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M and will be used later by the future BMW M5 F10.

The reason for removal the V10 engine from the Wiesmann range, is behind to stop production of this engine. The unit was built by the guys from BMW for M5 and M6 models, and the guys from Wiesmann integrated on MF4 and MF5 models. To better distinguish the two models, the V8 twin-turbo unit is offered in two versions of power. The future BMW M5 F10 will be even stronger than the two coupes from Wiesmann, but the exactly power is not disclosed yet.

While his “big brothers” were passed to twin-turbo engines, Wiesmann MF3 keep the six-cylinder configuration. A natural step for this model would be to pass to the N55 twin-turbo engine of 3.0-liters, which would give a high level of power and torque with great efficiency. There are big chances that this step take place in coming months, but the guys from Wiesmann could replace the Wiesmann MF3 model and introduces the powerful engine on his successor.
