According to Automobilwoche, Volksvagen Golf MkVII will come in the last quarter of 2012. Some say that the model will hit the dealerships in November next year.

Volkswagen have confirmed the release date for the seventh generation of Golf. Just like Audi A3, the model will be build on the new platform called MQB, a modular platform belonging to Volkswagen Group that will be highly used in the future. In an attempt to become world’s biggest automaker, Volkswagen aim to build 3 million vehicles underpinned by the MQB platform. While next Audi A3 is expected to drop in the summer of 2012, the new generation of VW Golf will be launched at the end of the same year, or the latest in the beginning of 2013.

The German publication Automobilwoche have quoted a source close to Martin Winterkorn announcing that Volkswagen Golf Mk VII will debut in November 2012. According to the source, the best selling compact car in Europe will come, in the seventh reincarnation in all Volkswagen dealerships starting the 11th month of 2012. The spokesman of Volkswagen Germany haven’t confirmed or ruled out the rumors. Unlike the Golf Mk VI, the new model will mean a radical change.

The 2010 VW Golf is very alike the the Golf Mk V both aesthetically and technically, but Golf Mk VII will be different from the two models in both points of view. Like VW said, the launch of Golf VI was just an improvement of Golf V regarding the looks and fuel efficiency.

While the rest of the planet gets its Golf R starting now, North America has to wait, because our Golf R won’t arrive until the second quarter of 2011 as a 2012 model. Volkswagen seems to always love it’s fellow European drivers more, sigh sigh…

Probably the Mbiz choice from competition like the Mazdaspeed 3 (sure, it will cost maybe soem cost about $8,500 more too..), the Ford Focus RS or a Honda Civic Type R.

Volkswagen Golf R 2012

The Golf R 2012 you can see in the pictures is a VW Golf R with the 2.0 TSI. Just like the rest of the Golf olf MkVI family, the Golf R 2012 has so many improvements and premium features that it could stand proud next to any Audi. And particularly as a four-door hatch, the new Golf R looks normal-ish, certainly when compared to the blatant sport stance designed into the Scirocco.

Most probably the 2012 Volkswagen Golf R for North America will be limited to 130 mph like the GTI and others. The six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, and that will probably be both for European and United States models. the optional dual-clutch automated DSG manual or simple manual are available to opt for however.

In case you didn’t know, mother company Volkswagen has established Volkswagen R GmbH, will take on the responsibilities of developing, implementing and selling R-badged products from now on.

The 2012 Volkswagen Golf R will be a limited edition of between 1,500 and 3,000 cars, with prices starting at $32,500 or so for a manual-equipped two-door. We might even get four-doors for a slight premium. As one executive from VW declared:

I mean, hell, we build a lot of these. If the U.S. would want more Rs, then we would just make some more.”
