320 MPH: New Speed World Record For Electric Rides – Venturi Jamais Contente

The electric vehicle Venturi Jamais Contente have set a new speed record on the salt lake in Benneville. The car managed to reach a top speed of 320 mph.

The electric automobile Venturi Jamais Contente managed to set a new speed record for this type of vehicles, topping 320 mph. The cars was developed within the Venturi Global Challenges program, and its name was chosen as a tribute to Jamais Contente, the first vehicle that passed the 60 mph barrier.

Venturi Jamais has an electric motor that develops 800 HP and is powered by lithium-ion batteries. The salt lake in Bonneville was the place that hosted the speed record brake attempt. The electric car managed to get a speed average of 307.5 mph, and the top speed was of 320 mph.

Venturi Jamais Contente was developed in a collaboration with the Ohio University, and behind the steering wheel was the American driver Roger Schroer. The vehicle that broke the old speed record for electric cars will be displayed at the Paris Auto Show 2010 in October.
