The Detroit Auto Show brings this part of the world another gift: the Tata Nano has made it’s official debut for North America. The cheapest car in the world will be available for all Americans at around $5,000, and of course it will be manufactures to meet all safety and general auto standards in the U.S. So is there any reason to doubt the deal?

The Nano doesn’t look or feel expensive, to be sure, but there is a bit of heft to the doors and the Nano gives off a vibe that this it is, in fact, a real car – if a truly small and simple one. Smart features and tricks is what made this car so cheap-priced and yet attractive. Curved roof to offer (the impression of) more space, over 50 miles per gallon, hence fuel-efficiency (well, this might be mostly from the weight more than technology), power windows only for the front sits (hand power for in the back) and the list continues.

Above all, the Tata Nano is all about simplicity. And like it or not, that is the root of genius most of the times. The Tata Group is made up of 99 companies that operate all over the world, including 12 companies and 16,000 employees based in the America. Tata Motors designed and builds the car, while Tata Technologies just provides help to Tata Motors. This surely enabled Tata to research and plan the perfect car for any country in the world, and let’s hope Americans will be no exception. I’m sure the Planet wouldn’t mind if the Nano sold well.
