Next year is already taking shape as a great automotive year. Land Rover contribute to this fact, as they will start production in India, the fastest growing car market of the moment, announces Tata Motors CEO Carl-Peter Forster. This come as a correction to a previous post, when we said that Tata Motors is planning to move a great deal of Land Rover and Jaguar production in China.

Famous for their $3k car, the Tata Nano, Tata Motors have acquired Land Rover from Ford in early 2008, and have since planned to build some of it’s models in it’s homeland sub-continent.

Land Rover classic Defender - will the new one be made in India?

While there no official word on which Land Rover model will be manufactured in Indian factories come 2011, the T5 platform used for the current LR4 and Range Rover Sport seems a likely candidate. That same platform is to be used for the Defender replacement which is coming sometime in 2012.

Jaguar is another brand looking to build cars abroad, this time in the other major car market of Asia, China. Because foreign automakers are required to work with local companies in China, Jaguar is in negotiations for a production partner. We will post you as soon as any news arises on the matter.
