The tyre that detached from Nico Rosberg’s car after the first pit stop hit one of the Williams F1 Team mechanics.

One of the incidents that draw the attention during the Hugaroring race was the moment when one of Nico Rosberg’s tyres flew right after the German left the pits. The rear-right tyre of the Mercedes GP driver flew in the pits area, stopping after several seconds of scaring the mechanics of all the teams that were expecting the drivers.

Unfortunately, Rosberg’s wheel hurt someone fro the Williams F1 Team. We are talking about Nigel Hope, one of the  truck drivers that transport parts and the Williams cars. He was left unconscious after the impact with the tyre and needed medical care at a hospital near Budapest. Though Hope returned to the Grand Prix to see the finish of the race, even though the investigations showed that Hope got one of his ribs broke. Nigel Hope is called “Big Nige” at the pits, many team components knowing the Brit for his impressive size.

“After I heard that my tyre hit big Nige (Nigel Hope), one of my old Williams truckies, I was more concerned about my tyre than him!” Rosberg joked at the end of the race.
