Honda has announced a recall for some 410,000 vehicle due to a defect with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) module. This is, sadly, official, and seems to perpetuate an ongoing spree of recalls from Asian car makers.
It seems that a high number of cars will be called in for these brake issues, 344,00 Odysseys and 68,000 Elements (MY 2007-2008).
If you are an owner, you will be notified sometime in the following month – April – with a notice to bring your car to a service. Honda did not specify whether this e-mail will contain information about a close-by service able to handle the issue or not, but let’s hope they’ll keep it as professional as possible.
You can also call a hotline if you own one of the affected models from Honda!

The number is: (800) 999-1009, you have to select option 4.

Today, February 10th, Honda announced it will recall some 400,00 vehicles for a rather peculiar problem. They say they have to  replace an airbag deflator that could rupture and send shards towards the driver in an accident. This coming un top of the bleak last weeks for neighbour global maker Toyota, that is facing massive recalls one after another.
To make at least some good for our readers, and for consumers worldwide, we decided to put togheter a timeline with major recalls in recent history. This for two reasons: informed drivers are better drivers and looking back may raise our spirits, after all these recalls aren’t something unique, as you can see below.

[] Major auto recalls around the world []

1981 – GM recalled 5.8 million vehicles due to loose suspension bolts that affected steering.
1996 – Ford Motor Co (F.N) recalled more than 8 million vehicles to replace

Maybe this won’t make the news in this period, considering the massive recalls happening this second half of winter, but Honda is calling some back in too.
Jazz, City or Fit (are these some symbolic words for a little urban story of something?), they all are the same hatchback, a five-doorer that’s been around since 2001. The Fit uses Honda’s Global Small Car platform, also used by the City/Fit Aria, Airwave, Mobilio, and the Mobilio Spike. Maybe it’s a total mistery to you, but this car sold in over 3 mil units around the globe.
The recall includes 140,000 vehicles in the United States and also includes models sold in South America, Europe, South Africa and Asia. No cars sold in Japan are subject to this recall. Now isn’t that just funny, no cars from Japan…
But what’s the reason for the medium-”sized” recall from Honda? It seems that due to a manufacturing

Nissan will recall over 26,000 Altima and Maxima 2009-2010 models, the NHTSA informs. The cars included on the recall list are facing suspension issues. To be more precisely the problem is the upper front strut insulator, which in certain situations might crack, affecting the vehicle stability and increasing the risk of a crash. The Nissan dealers will be instructed to replace both left and right front strut insulators. The fixing of the issue will be made free of charge and the recall is expected to begin during October 2009. For more information the Altima and Maxima owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration can also inform you about the recall on their hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).

First it was Toyota that recalled about 4 million vehicles suffering from risky floor mats. Now it’s Ford and their cruise control system. Probably, they didn’t wanted Toyota to set a negative record and now they decided to recall 4.5 million vehicles.
The last 10 years were not the best years for Ford, with the automaker recalling almost 10 million vehicles between 1999 and 2008 for various reasons. Now they will add 4.5 million more and set a new world record.
So, what is the reason of the recall? It seems that the cruse control switch can leak and overheat and in some cases even ignite. Until now the switch is accused of more then 500 fires and about 1,500 owners complained so far.
Even though many decided to ignore the issue and rather not use the cruise control system then go to a service, things should not be so easily taken, as there were numerous reports of
