Sony Officially Introduces PlayStation Suite For Android 2.3 Phones And Tablets

PlayStation Suite

This is definitely the Sony day and it will always be remembered like this! Today, Sony officially unveiled the PSP2, while the PlayStation Phone aka Xperia Play has been officially previewed by Engadget. Sony also pushed the PS3 update 3.56 which kills the PS3 jailbreak method so probably there’s no need to sue Geohot and the Fail0verflow team. Anyway Sony took its time to announce the PlayStation Suite.

The Sony PlayStation Suite is a cross-platform software framework which requires Android 2.3 Gingerbread or higher, and it will emulate PSOne titles. The PlayStation Suite will be an Android games store, probably not only for Sony Ericsson smartphones which means that other device makers will have access to the service.

Sony hopes that the good relations with many big developers will help the company’s game marketplace grow. There are no rumored prices for the PlayStation Suite games and if they’ll work on the PSP2, though I’m sure the NGP will support them in one way or another.

The Sony PlayStation Suite games will be available for both Android smartphones and tablets, and I’m hoping that the Motorola Xoom and the LG G-Slate will support PSOne titles as well. More details should become available in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
