It seems that the Toyota Recall Saga is not willing to come to an end. After they recalled over 8 million vehicles to their services worldwide, a new recall might affect the Japanese automaker in the near future.
Just a day after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched a probe into the Japanese to see if the automaker is did all they could to fix the sudden acceleration issue, Toyoda and Sasaki held a press conference in Toyota’s headquarters in Tokyo.
This time, a new problem was raised. The reporters wanted to know more about the Corolla model that might have some problems with the power-steering. Anyway it looks like the press is trying to make things look worse as they are, as the Toyota officials said that the complaints about the Corolla steering are currently numbered less than 100.
The Japanese car maker has 30 to 60 days to provide

Our good pal the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) has just announced that Volvo is to face a big recall. Vehicles manufactured by Volvo are the subject of two different recalls, but only one problem. How come? Well it’s related to the fuel system, so yes that can cause different and apparently non-related issues. In total some 140,000 vehicles are to be recalled, manufacturing date anytime within this year and 10 years ago.
The massive campaign of recalling for Volvos will begin right away in January 2010. Figures talk of 140k to 150k units, but like always the actual numbers may vary depending on users.

The first recall is directed at 136,100 2001-2005 model year S60, S80, V70, XC70, and XC90 vehicles sold and operated in warmer climates. According to NHTSA, the fuel pump can develop cracks in its flange when exposed to hot temperatures (and thermal cycling) combined with

Ford, Subaru and Volkswagen brands hold the firs positions in a US classification of the new safe cars. The National Highway Traffic Safety Association awarded the “maximum safety” prize for the next year to 19 regular cars and eight SUVs. The association reduced the number of the “winners” compared to 2009 because of the rough requirements regarding the roof safety introduced this year. Ford Motors and its subsidiary Volvo gathered the most awards – six – compared to the five award the Japanese from Subaru received, to the Germans from Volkswagen and to the General Motors Americans.
Toyota, BMW, Mazda and Mitsubishi were not included in the top.
Ford, awarded especially for Volv0 S80, C30 and Taurus, highlighted in a press release that he commits himself to offer the Ford customers “safe cars that can cope with most kinds of car accidents,” Associated Press informs.
Nissan will recall over 26,000 Altima and Maxima 2009-2010 models, the NHTSA informs. The cars included on the recall list are facing suspension issues. To be more precisely the problem is the upper front strut insulator, which in certain situations might crack, affecting the vehicle stability and increasing the risk of a crash. The Nissan dealers will be instructed to replace both left and right front strut insulators. The fixing of the issue will be made free of charge and the recall is expected to begin during October 2009. For more information the Altima and Maxima owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-NISSAN1 (1-800-647-7261). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration can also inform you about the recall on their hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
