The new mid-range model of the French guys from Peugeot was compromised on the Internet a few weeks before its official debut.

As you know, the guys from Peugeot will present the new Peugeot 508 at Paris Motor Show. The model will be built in sedan version and will be called GT and in SportWagon version. Until the official debut of this model, we don’t have no picture with 508 in production version. Clearly, the guys from Peugeot had already prepared the launch model, as a matter of time before it will be presented with images on the Internet. It seems that Peugeot has prepared both the sedan and SW version of 508 for the presentation at Paris Auto Show 2010.

In terms of aesthetic, the changes are limited to the size of the front grille and the the location of Peugeot logo. The doors have a much more “friendly” form for production, and the model presents the projects that are similar in design to what currently the French automaker built. As the 508 SW version, we can see that the model has a much greater opening of the door tailgate, renouncing at the different design submitted by 407 SW in practicality favor.

According to first information, the model will start with two THP gasoline units and three HDi diesel units. The entry-level version in gasoline range is a THP of 1.6-liters and 155 HP, followed by a 2.0-liter unit that develops 200 HP. Subsequently, the French will introduce a new THP engine which will provide between 200 and 240 HP and is developed with BMW specialists. The diesel range starts from 1.6-liters HDI engine with 110 HP and go up to a 2.0-liters and 140 HP and a stronger version of the same thruster – that will deliver 163 HP. While the 508 sedan will be offered in a diesel-hybrid version, there are no information on that platform adjustment also for 508 SW.

All engines of this model will meet the Euro5 standards, which means that the engineers will not use the Peugeot 407 engines without significant changes in advance. The 2.2-liter diesel unit will be removed from the range, but its replacement was not announced. In the range of gasoline engines, the model will have a V6 3.0-liter unit that develops 240 HP and a 1.6-liter turbo unit will deliver 156 HP. Peugeot 508 model will replace both 407 and 607 model.

Peugeot 508 will keep much of the design of the 5 concept and will remain with its external dimensions. However, the model will receive a hybrid version with a diesel engine.

New Peugeot 508 will debut at Paris Motor Show this autumn. The model will be available in a hybrid version which will be fitted with a diesel engine. The hybrid version of its 508 model will have a 2.0-liter diesel engine which will develops 160 HP and will be assisted by an electric motor located in the rear. The two engines will provide a fuel economy of a Prius level, while the model has dimensions similar to BMW 5 Series F10. The hybrid based on 508 is expected to begin somewhere in middle of 2012 and will benefits by lithium-ion batteries.

Besides the benefits of a hybrid system, the model will have a four-wheel drive system when it needed, thanks to the intervention of the electric motor while the propellant with intern combustion will engage the front wheels. All engines of this model will respect the Euro 5 standards, which means that the Peugeot engineers will not use the Peugeot 407 engines without significant changes in advance. The design of the new model will be heavily inspired from the concept of including square grille, lights and hood with a very prominent part. The dimensions of the model will follow the line concept, which has a length of 189 inches. The reason for this choice lies in the fact that the model should replace both 407 and 607. Therefore, Peugeot needed to create a large sedan, with a large range of engines and optional equipment.
