The sedan version of the fashionable Audi A7 Sportback? The little brother of Audi A8? You can call it anyway, but this is the new 2012 Audi A6 as the Ingolstadt-located automaker displayed at Detroit Auto show 2011. It looks great in this evil-red body color, isn’t it?
The new 2012 Audi A6 forgets about the extravagant look the recently-launch A7 Sportback started his march for conquering the world and plays the role of a traditional sedan, being influenced by a series of 2011 A8’s elements.
The main characteristics of the latest creation coming from Ingolstadt includes, among others, a bigger engine hood, prominent side lines and a fluid shape of the roof, all completed by the generous front grill, an already classic element of the Audi models, and the the LED lights, of course, coming as optional.
In addition, a doze of aggressiveness is always welcomed, so the S-Line package is waiting on the options list with its elements adding extra aggressiveness – revised front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser, double exhaust, sports suspension, 19-inch wheels and others more.
The interior of Audi A6 2012 is looking a lot like the one of the four-door coupe Audi A7 Sportback, being the main attraction point of the new German sedan, the model boasting about a range of engines made of fuel efficient engines, promising a maximum of performance with minimum of fuel consumption. The 2012 A6 features a range of not less than five engines, with powers between 177 HP (2.o-liter diesel) and 300 HP (petrol V6).
The German automaker says that the new generation Audi A6 is 19% more fuel efficient than its forerunner and that in 2011 a hybrid version will be added to the line-up – an electric motor of 45 HP will help the 211 HP petrol engine.
The Audi A6 2012 is the fourth generation of the German mid-size luxury car, the first one coming 18 ago. The model is competing with Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Lexus GS, but the German automaker says the car has very lot in common with their 2011 A8. The latest generation of the Stuttgart sedan has a starting price around $50,000 (38,500 euros in Germany).
