Motorola has just updated the Atrix 4G web page and we’ve noticed something really interesting in the smartphone’s fact sheet: now it’s capable of shooting 720p HD videos, however, it seems like a software upgrade will bring full HD 1080p video recording capabilities.

The Nvidia Tegra 2 processor is capable of encoding/decoding 1080p videos and we know that because the LG Optimus 2X is capable of filming in full HD so why wouldn’t the Motorola Atrix 4G be capable, too?

If the Motorola Atrix 4G and the LG Optimus 2X can film in full HD, then this kinda eliminates the need of a camcorder, right? Maybe, maybe not, but it will sure be cooler to watch your 1080p videos taken with your smartphone on a full HD LCD thanks to the HDMI output capabilities of the aforementioned devices.

I would purchase the Motorola Atrix 4G if it would ever come to Europe in favor of the LG Optimus 2X. Somehow I trust Motorola more than LG. What will you do when both these phones become available in the US?

Amazon is a good source for leaks and it wasn’t enough for Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha to announce the Atrix 4G release date, the online retailer has just begun listing the smartphone. So according to Amazon, the Motorola Atrix 4G price is $149.99 with a new two-year contract, or $599 unlocked. The reported Motorola Atrix 4G shipping date is February 11th which is days away from the already announced “end of February.”

The Samsung Inspire 4G also made a brief cameo on Amazon’s website and this device has been listed for $99.99 with the usual two-year contract, and $499.99 unlocked. There was no shipping date mentioned for the Samsung Inspire 4G, and now the problem is that both listings are gone. I guess they just two fortunate/unfortunate leaks therefore we’re going to have to wait a couple of more weeks before these two become available for pre-order.

Motorola was the company of the Consumer Electronics Show 2011. Motorola unveiled the best two smartphones and the best tablet at CES 2011. The Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T is the phone of my dreams, while the Droid Bionic is a similar device, the major difference being that the latter can’t be used as a laptop using the coolest dock ever designed. On the other hand the Motorola Xoom tablet is simply astonishing and that’s that!

AT&T and Motorola didn’t announce the exact release date of the Atrix 4G, but they said that it’s coming in Q1 2011. The guys over at Android Central got their hands on an internal AT&T document which shows that the Motorola Atrix 4G release date is March 1st.

That’s kinda weird because March 1st falls on a Tuesday, while AT&T launches its phones on Sundays or Fridays. If you’re on AT&T and you’re eligible for an upgrade then don’t wait for the iPhone 5 or switch to Verizon to get the CDMA iPhone. Just buy this baby and I’m sure you won’t be sorry!

If Motorola already revealed the Xoom Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet with Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset and the Droid Bionic for Verizon, it’s time for the company to turn its attention to AT&T. The Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T is now official even though AT&T doesn’t have a 4G network.

Well, we’ve already established that all advanced 3G networks will be referred to as 4G networks and AT&T’s HSPA+ falls into that category. The Motorola Atrix 4G packs some interesting specs, albeit not as great as the Droid Bionic for Verizon 4G LTE, but scroll down below to find out the full story.

The Motorola Atrix 4G specs consists of a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU, 16GB built-in memory with 32GB microSD support, Android 2.2 Froyo with MotoBlur, 4-inch qHD touchscreen with 960 x 540 resolution, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera for video conference, HDMI output, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, DLNA streaming, mobile hotspot support, Adobe Flash Player support, 3.5mm headset jack, and a 1,930mAh battery which provides a longer battery life than the one found on the new MacBook Airs.

The Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T has a special feature which allows users to connect it to two docks: a HD media dock or a notebook-like dock. The HD Multimedia dock can be connected to a computer, while the second dock turns your Atrix 4G into a laptop. Literally!
