Microsoft has just announced Q2 2011 earnings and once again, we noticed that gaming income is growing while Windows sales are decreasing. Steve Ballmer reported that Microsoft has a $6.63 billion profit in Q2 2011 from a total of $19.95 billion in revenue.

The Redmond-based company recorded an 8% decrease in Windows sales, but it doesn’t matter too much because Microsoft gathered $5.05 billion from Windows and Windows Live services. The division that brought Microsoft a record in revenues is the Entertainment and Devices Division which brought $3.6 billion thanks to Xbox 360, Kinect, and Xbox Live sales.

The difference between gaming and Windows divisions is now “minimal.” Previously the gap was of $3.1 billion, but now the Xbox sales have caught up with Windows sales and the gap stands at $1.3 billion. This is an important thing because it shows that the gaming industry is one of the fastest growing in the world and Microsoft doesn’t look like stopping.
