Apple has posted another press release 24 hours after the original press release which said that the Mac App Store has gone live and that you only have to download the Mac OS X 10.6.6 update to enable it. Well, the latest statement says that the Mac App Store has reached one million downloads in only one day.

Mac users have downloaded Angry Birds, Twitter, and the other 1000 apps one millions times and they are happy about it. The most popular app in the Mac App Store is definitely Angry Birds, but in the Paid Apps section which has also been released for PC and PS3 earlier in the week.

Steve Jobs praises the contribution of the developers who built great paid and free apps. Apple doesn’t charge anything for the free apps, however, for the paid apps there’s a 70-30 revenue split. Do you own a Mac? How many apps have you downloaded? Discuss in comments!

At the Apple Event October 2010 the Cupertino-based company has announced Mac users are going to get themselves a Mac App Store within 90 days of that date. Soon after the Apple Event, Steve Jobs has posted a press release which said that the Mac App Store launch date is January 6th, 2011 and that the revenue split with the developers will be 30-70.

Today is January 6th and I guess all of you are wondering what’s the Mac App Store launch time. Well, the answer comes from Jim Dalrymple who said that his sources know of a 12PM ET launch. 12PM ET means 9AM PT and that’s the Cupertino time which would mean that Apple is going to begin this day with a very good and busy morning.

There is more about Apple besides rumors and leaks as the Cupertino company has just officially announced the Mac App Store release date: January 6th, 2011. Apple announced the Mac App Store back in October 2010 when it said that the revenue split will stand a 70/30 with the developers.

Apple wants to have the same success it had with the App Store for iOS devices, though I doubt it will return the same amount of money as the mobile version. The Cupertino-based company claims that it will make PC apps as easy to find, buy, download as mobile apps.

Steve Jobs believes that the iOS App Store “revolutionized” the mobile world, albeit he didn’t say anything whether the Mac App Store will have the same importance. Apple’s press statement says that the Mac App Store will be open in 90 countries across the world and that it will be “full” right from the beginning.

P.S. The Mac App Store will consists of both paid and free apps for Macs so don’t say goodbye to your money just yet. Let’s hope Angry Birds will be present!
