Renault F1 Team Sets 3rd Place As Their Goal For 2011 Constructors’ Championship
Renault F1 Team have set a 3rd place in the F1 Constructors’ Championship as a goal for the 2011 season, so they have chosen an aggressive design for their R31 car.
After they went trough the Crashgate scandal after they sold 75% in shares to the Gerard Lopez businessman, Renault F1 Team have registered significant progress throughout 2010 F1 season, finishing on the fifth position of the Constructors’ Championship.
The team hopes not to stop here and further improve their progress this year thanks to their partnership with the British manufacturer Lotus. Renault F1 Team’s new goal for the 2011 season is a place 3 in the F1 Constructors’ Championship, and for fulfilling this goal they decided to insource some car developing programs, according to COO Patrick Louis.

“The objective for the team is to finish within the top three in the championship. To get along to that objective [...] we have been choosing and opting to re-insource a major part of the outsource jobs we have, for many, many reasons because based on a higher efficiency in-house we are going to be able to match the volumes [of production], we can improve the quality level and we can decrease the external expenditure [...] and should provide the future track performance we are looking for,” he said.
In addition, Renault F1 Team chose an aggressive design for their F1 car, in an attempt to take the best from the new technical regulations. “Anyone who follows the sport will have seen that words like aggressive, brave, are being bandied around across several of the teams this year for their solutions. I believe that we have chosen a direction that is really on the brave end of brave,” said James Allison, the technical director of the Franco-British team.
Renault F1 Team will launch their R31 F1 car for the 2011 season on January 31, on Valencia track.
