iPad 2 Will Feature A Proximity Sensor, Says iOS 4.3 Beta 2 Code

iPad 2 Proximity Sensor

Now that iOS 4.3 Beta 2 has become available for download, it’s time for some clever guys to search for new features hidden deep into the software’s code. The first thing discovered by the devs is that the next-gen iPad will feature a proximity sensor right next to the already-present ambient light sensor.

This feature will allow the iPad 2 to turn its screen off whenever you put it into a cover, sleeve, or a case. Some might think that the iPad 2 will use the proximity sensor as a smartphone does, but no, you won’t be getting phone call support on your next-gen Apple tablet and even if you would, I guess that you wouldn’t hold it close to your ear.

The proximity sensor on the iPad 2 will help users preserve battery with ease and without having to lock their tablet. It’s not like this feature is nowhere to be seen, but you know that the world goes crazy when something new about an Apple product shows up in the media.
