The Japanese supercar, Lexus LFA, will receive a set of safety belts with air-bags, offering extra protection if frontal or side impact occurs.

The officials of the Japanese automaker want to offer with their Lexus LFA the inflatable seat belts. The new seat belts offered by the Japanese aim to protect the chest of the passengers if frontal impact occurs. If the supercar is involved in a side accident, the inflatable seat belts offer extra protection for the area between the shoulder and the head, for the passengers not the hit the LFA’s side windows.

“The SRS Seat Belt Airbag being fitted to the Lexus LFA has an airbag built into the webbing of the seatbelt, which inflates on impact to provide additional protection to the shoulder and critical head area,” said a spokesman for the supplier of the airbelts, Takada. The Lexus LFA production is set to debut this month in the Motomachi plan in Toyota City.

The Japanese supercar features a 4.8-liter V10 engine developing 552 HP and a torque of 354 lb-ft. The power of the engine is sent to the wheels via an sequential transmission with six gears. Lexus LFA sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, and the top speed of the Japanese supercar is of 202 mph.
