Honda is working on the next generation of Civic compact. The Japanese model will have a new design, more youthful and more attractive.

The Honda engineers are working hard to create the next generations of Civic, the model will be unveiled in 2012, and will be on market since 2013. The compact model surprised in 2005 by future design, will suffer some aesthetic changes and will take some CR-Z lines.

The back of the future Civic will have a new design, more futuristic. At the size chapter, the next generation of Japanese model will not bring major changes compared with the current version. Regarding the interior, it will receive new materials and new design that will be much younger.

As any self-respecting automaker, Honda will improve the fuel consumption and will decrease the CO2 emissions of the future Civic. At engines chapter is possible to attend to a hybrid version of Civic, it will use the same chassis as the Honda CR-Z or Honda Insight.

We waiting more details and of course the official pictures. I think that will be a very beautiful and sporty car, like the previous version. I like very much the Honda engines and I think that are the best aspirated engines in the world.

An article in Mag-X (via Temple of VTEC) tells of how Honda is hard at work to finish designs for the next-gen Civic that’s expected to debut in 2011 as a 2012 model. Previous news have been going round that Honda is going to release customized, special versions of the Honda 2012 Civics each for the Japanese, European and North American markets. Americans will be getting their preferred sedan and coupe bodystyles, while other areas will get variants of the hatchback model.

Honda busy at finishing design for the 2012 Honda Civic

Obviously, there will be a hybrid version of the 2012 Civic, supposed to be powered by the 1.5-liter gasoline-powered engine mated to Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist technology. This powerplant will reportedly be shared with the upcoming CR-Z hybrid hatchback where it will be available with either an automatic CVT transmission or six-speed manual. Read down about when we will be sure about this. The engine should produce around 150 horsepower which, given the car’s pep and uptick before at 140 may just surprise some drivers into falling in love all over again.

The Tokyo Motor Show that takes place this (wet) October is going to answer doubts and confirm or infirm rumours regarding the new Honda Civic and not only. Once the Tokyo event gets closer we’ll surely have pictures to offer you. It’s also where a production prototype of the 2011 CR-Z is expected to be shown as well as a massive hybrid display from Toyota. Let’s hope Honda makes good competition for the 2012 Ford Focus with this yet mysterious Civic 2012: it would be a win-win output for everyone, consumers firstly.

Fuel economy leaders in the car business. That’s a hot topic this end of the week, and will probably one – or at least an important if not trendy one – for the coming months.

EPA Seal

The Environmental Protection Agency has published it’s top 10 most economic cars by fuels consumption. Fuel efficiency is important for reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change. One of the most important things consumers can do to reduce their contribution to climate change is to buy a vehicle with better fuel economy. Obviously, at least in the future, we should all shift towards and all electric vehicle.

Fuel-efficient models come in all types and sizes, so consumers can save thousands of dollars over a vehicle’s lifetime without sacrificing performance

So who is number 1? Firs of all we should all note that all the cars on the top 10 list are good options, and most of the times 2, 5 or 10 miles per galon are not as important for buyers as specs, firm and how much they think they compromise on performance. Big winner is the Toyota Prius, at 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 on the highway. At some ten miles more per gallon stand the Ford Fusion and the Mercury Milan hybrids in an equal second place.

Toyota Prius, top Green choice of the day

You can see the rest of them on the list below. All are good options and fine cars, and we strongly suggest you ponder hybrid vs regular cars for future purchases

Also note this, taken from the EPA.gov website:

In 2006 EPA announced new test methods to determine the fuel economy estimates (city and highway) that appear on the window stickers of all new cars and light trucks sold in the U.S., beginning with 2008 models.
