EPA top of fuel efficent cars for 2010 – which are top 5?
Fuel economy leaders in the car business. That’s a hot topic this end of the week, and will probably one – or at least an important if not trendy one – for the coming months.
The Environmental Protection Agency has published it’s top 10 most economic cars by fuels consumption. Fuel efficiency is important for reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change. One of the most important things consumers can do to reduce their contribution to climate change is to buy a vehicle with better fuel economy. Obviously, at least in the future, we should all shift towards and all electric vehicle.
Fuel-efficient models come in all types and sizes, so consumers can save thousands of dollars over a vehicle’s lifetime without sacrificing performance
So who is number 1? Firs of all we should all note that all the cars on the top 10 list are good options, and most of the times 2, 5 or 10 miles per galon are not as important for buyers as specs, firm and how much they think they compromise on performance. Big winner is the Toyota Prius, at 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 on the highway. At some ten miles more per gallon stand the Ford Fusion and the Mercury Milan hybrids in an equal second place.
You can see the rest of them on the list below. All are good options and fine cars, and we strongly suggest you ponder hybrid vs regular cars for future purchases
Also note this, taken from the EPA.gov website:
In 2006 EPA announced new test methods to determine the fuel economy estimates (city and highway) that appear on the window stickers of all new cars and light trucks sold in the U.S., beginning with 2008 models.
