Volvo Needs A C20 Version, A Rival For Mini, A-Class And Audi A1

Volvo plans to debut in the coming years also on the B segment, where working also the premium models like the Mercedes A-Class, Mini and Audi A1. The Swedish weapon will be called C20.

Provided that Mercedes and BMW attack the B segment with Mini and A-Class models,and Audi comes back strong with the new A1, Volvo can not stand with hands on breast.

The Swedish automaker must to react to the current trend of increasing premium subcompact segment, the recent studies showing that in 2015 half of all registered cars in Europe will be models from inferior markets. In witness whereof, on the board table stand already a project which proposes to launch a younger brother for C30.

Provided that divorce between Ford and Volvo has already ended, and Geely is new owner of the Swedish, it seems hard to believe that Americans will borrow former subsidiary the Fiesta platform, for a future development of a cheaper C20.

Also, nor the borrow idea of a Geely motor is not plausible, Volvo was forced to maintain their brand identity. One thing is certain: the Scandinavian automaker will have to quickly seek a joint venture with players already on the B segment to escape the huge costs of development provided the proper procedure.

Considering the new rules to reduce consumption and the pollution rules, it seems more plausible idea of a small model that minimizes the automaker average, globally.
