Opel  announced the launch of a revised version for performance model Corsa OPC.  The model received an Euro 5 engine  and a improved direction.

After this Corsa facelift, earlier this year, Opel comes in the autumn with a series of revisions to the OPC performance version.   Opel Performance Center team was able to improve performance of the train’s propulsion and steering to provide customers a unique experience.

The model retains the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine capable of delivering 192 HP and a torque of 230 Nm of torque delivered between 1980 and 5580 rpm. Torque value can increase up to 266 Nm, thanks to an overboost function. Resources allow OPC youngest accelerate from 0 to 60 mph  in just 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 mph.

Even if performance remains on top, consumption and  emissions decrease by 7.6,  respectively 9.5 percent, allowing the german model to have a bigger autonomy for about 50 km+. Consumption decreased from 7.6 to 7.3 litres/60 miles in average cycle, while emissions are also reduced from 190 to 172 g / mile.  In those circumstances, the car manage to fulfill Euro 5 pollution standards.

Engineers have been busy also with electronic steering system, which has become more accurate thanks to power steering recalibration(EPS), updated software  and using of  a new material for steering. List of mechanical changes includes springs, dampers and anti-roll bar and even a ground clearance lowered by 10 mm.

The Germans from Audi crossed the barrier of 100 HP per liter for Euro 5 version of the V8 FSI engine fitted to the R8.

Those from Audi upgraded  R8 V8 FSI  engine and managed to squeeze 10 extra HP.  4.2-liter unit now develops 430 HP at 7900 rpm and offers a torque of 430 Nm between 4,500 rpm and 6,000 rpm. The model  benefits from a kinetic energy recovery system, which save propulsive energy during braking and running while accelerator pedal is pressed. . According to Audi, the new system helped them to achieve higher average level of that engine.

Audi V8 FSI engine

Audi launched the new version of the Euro 5 engine on the R8 Spyder version. The model can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds, whether we talk about the  version with manual transmission gearbox or six-speed S tronic. Both versions have a maximum speed of 186 mph. First deliveries of the Euro 5 version of the V8 R8 Spyder will start in January 2011.

Regarding equipment, the Audi’s have not made any changes to the R8 range. Also, the German automaker  has specified that the revised V8 engine offers 90% of maximum torque between 3,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm, but between 6000 and 7500 rpm. Therefore, the model offers 387 Nm, between 6000 and 7500 rpm but also  between 3,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm.
