Opel  announced the launch of a revised version for performance model Corsa OPC.  The model received an Euro 5 engine  and a improved direction.

After this Corsa facelift, earlier this year, Opel comes in the autumn with a series of revisions to the OPC performance version.   Opel Performance Center team was able to improve performance of the train’s propulsion and steering to provide customers a unique experience.

The model retains the same 1.6-liter turbocharged engine capable of delivering 192 HP and a torque of 230 Nm of torque delivered between 1980 and 5580 rpm. Torque value can increase up to 266 Nm, thanks to an overboost function. Resources allow OPC youngest accelerate from 0 to 60 mph  in just 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 140 mph.

Even if performance remains on top, consumption and  emissions decrease by 7.6,  respectively 9.5 percent, allowing the german model to have a bigger autonomy for about 50 km+. Consumption decreased from 7.6 to 7.3 litres/60 miles in average cycle, while emissions are also reduced from 190 to 172 g / mile.  In those circumstances, the car manage to fulfill Euro 5 pollution standards.

Engineers have been busy also with electronic steering system, which has become more accurate thanks to power steering recalibration(EPS), updated software  and using of  a new material for steering. List of mechanical changes includes springs, dampers and anti-roll bar and even a ground clearance lowered by 10 mm.

Opel has revealed the first technical details and information for the Corsa facelift. The model will hit the market this summer.

The Germans from Opel have revealed the technical data and the first pictures of the Corsa facelift. The Russelsheim engineers say they have managed to improve the drivetrain of the subcompact to reduce fuel consumption by 13% across the entire range. Also, the steering has been recalibrated and the chassis has been significantly improved to get extra agility and a high level of comfort, while the engines are offering extra power engines. The Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo versions of Corsa received new shock absorbers, springs and anti-roll bar in November, along with a modified rear axle. THe models equipped with sports chassis, GSI or ecoFLEX receive additional changes to the rear axle and the steering and the OPC has received additional steering modifications.

CORSA WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE IN LIMITED EDITION

Opel will offer a series of limited edition of Corsa in Germany. They are part of the Color Line series and bear the names of Color Race, Color Edition and Color Wave. Each of these special edition bears the distinctive finishes of the body and 17-inch alloy wheels. Along with the celebration of 111 years of existence of the company, the guys from Opel will launch a limited edition of Corsa on the market in Europe, called 111 Limited Edition. Corsa is offered in two distinct body versions, with three and five doors, and the interior of this model is one of the most spacious and attractive in its class.

Among the technological items available on the new Opel Corsa facelift we can enumerate the AFL adaptive lighting, heated steering wheel, active front headrests, uphill-start assistance, panoramic windscreen and FlexFix bicycles mounting system. Corsa is responsible for 30% of the sales of Opel and is the model that registered the fewest malfunctions, the German DEKRA organization says, with a failure rate of 2.4%, the lowest of all models tested.

ENGINE NEWS

The range of petrol engines for the Corsa starts from a three-cylinder 1-liter unit that provides up to 65 HP to the OPC version equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, which develops 192 HP. The diesel versions of the Corsa offers between 75 and 130 hp, all with a mileage around 47 mpg and above all the Corsa ecoFLEX 1.3 CDTI unit offers extremely low CO2 emissions. All Corsa’s gasoline engines comply with the Euro 5,standards and the 1.7-liter diesel engine also respects this environmental rule.

The Otto engines of 1.0, 1.2 and 1.3-liter offered with manual transmission or Easytronic provide a combined fuel efficiency between 47 mpg and 42 mpg, while. Corsa 1.0 model has the greenest gasoline engine in the B segment. However, the model has 27% more power than its predecessor and uses 10% less fuel.

DIESEL ENGINES HAVE ALSO BEEN OPTIMIZED

The top model, the diesel 1.7 CDTI engine, offers 130 hp and 221 lb-ft while CO2 emissions reduced by 9 percent and fuel consumption have been reduced to 43.5 mpg. Also, the 1.4 liter engine is offered in two versions – one of 87 HP and another one of 100 HP, the 100 HP one being available with an Easytronic automatic transmission. The Twinport engines of 1.2 and 1.4-liter are equipped with a variable distribution system both for the intake valves and the exhaust valves to obtain their optimum performance. The oil pump have been improved to reduce friction, the engine’s thermostat working differently, and the driver has an rpm indicator that tells him when to change gear for best fuel efficiency.
