Audi To Focus On Hybrid And Electric Cars

While seeking to improve the efficiency of combustion engines by 30% over the next 10 years, the guys from Audi will focus on developing hybrids and electric vehicles.

Volkswagen Group is preparing a major offensive in the field of electric vehicles and hybrids, and Audi bear an important role in this expansion. The automaker of Ingostadt recently made a hybrid version of its A8 and is going to present a hybrid version of their Q5, followed by a hybrid version of the A6. Also, Audi has introduced and an electric version of the new A1, which is equipped with an internal combustion engine used to extend autonomy.

The first electric car from Audi will debut in 2012 and was called e-Trone. In 2013, the Volkswagen Group will launch another three electric vehicles – E-Up, E-Golf and E-Jetta. For now, the details provided by the German Volkswagen Group about the new models are sketchy, and performance and their capabilities are still unknown.

Volkswagen Group’s target is to becoming the No. 1 producer of electric and hybrid vehicles until 2020. Also, the guys from Audi want to improve efficiency of internal combustion engines with up to 30% by 2020, while 5% of their total sales will be represented by electric vehicles.
