iPad 2 And iPhone 5 To Be Powered By Dual-Core Apple A5 CPU

If you were thinking that Apple is not going to release a dual-core iPad 2 and dual-core iPhone 5, then you were awfully wrong. Now we have more reasons to believe that the iPad 2 will have a 2048 x 1536 screen resolution because the next-gen Apple A4 processor will be based on a dual-core SGX543 GPU.

The Apple dual-core SGX543 chipset would bring 4X the processing power over the Apple A4 single-core SGX535 GPU which would be enough for the iPad 2 to display a constant resolution of 2048 x 1536. This processor would also allow iPad 2 and iPhone 5 users to output 1080p videos to the Apple TV and I’m sure this feature will sell a lot of iPhones.

This new processor will probably be called Apple A5 and it will be developed by PA Semi and Intrinsity, and then manufactured by Samsung. We won’t get an official confirmation anytime soon therefore we’re going to have to wait until the iPad 2 or the iPhone 5 become available.
