Present at Paris Auto Show 2010, the Kia designer said that he would like a light sport model, able to position itself as a rival of the current Mazda MX-5.

The success that Mazda MX-5 roadster enjoyed from the first generation to date could serve as an example and inspiration source for Kia, which is flirting with the idea of such a model.

Peter Schreyer, the man who left Audi to draw the Korean automaker models, vehemently denied the rumors from Geneva in this spring, but his vision seems to have changed. At Paris Auto Show 2010, where Kia has revealed Kia Pop concept and Kia Optima model, Schreyer said that he can not answer to questions about a possible roadster model.

However he said that: “Such a model would be important for Kia. MX-5 has done much for Mazda. At present there are many dedicated fan clubs and enthusiastic customers, which are part of Mazda’s history. Any automaker wants this.”

Schreyer said that he wants to give birth to such a model, which could be seriously inspired by the MX-5 Japanese rival. Kia has set out its vision of this segment at Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007, when presented the Kee concept.

Unofficial sources talked in the past about the possibility of using a shorter platform, borrow from Genesis Coupe, to give birth to a rear wheel drive model. The release date is expected around the middle of 2013.

Lotus has unveiled at Paris Auto Show 2010 the concept that will derive the first sedan in the history of the British brand. This promises a lot at performance and design chapters.

Lotus introduced at the Paris Auto Show the concept of the first sedan from the history of the British company. Officially called Eterne, the model has four-doors, but comes with a coupe silhouette, will thus become a fierce rival for Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7 Sportback, more acquaintances rivals already launched on the market.

Under the Lotus Concept hood is a V8 5.0-liter Lexus engine that develops 620 HP and a maximum torque of 531 lb-ft. In these circumstances, the British model is announced – at least in performance chapter  - one of the performers segment: 4.0 seconds for 0-60 mph and 196 mph maximum speed. These figures are based from the fact that Lotus has a mass of only 3,968 pounds, while the competitors do not stop under 4,400 pounds.

As an alternative to the heat engine, Lotus promises and the emergence of a hybrid system based on two electric motors, but also the possibility to equip the new sports sedan with a four-wheel drive system.

According to preliminary estimates, the sale price of the series model that will derive from the Lotus Eterne concept will be about $190,000.

One of the most unusual collaborations from tuning range is centered around the guys from Hyundai and the Brabus engineers. The result: Hyundai i20 Sport Edition.

Although Brabus has accustomed us so far, mainly with applied package and sport kits applied to the models that Daimler group bring on the market , Paris Auto Show 2010 us a surprise in this regard. Thus, at the Brabus stand can be admired a Hyundai i20 Sport Edition tuned by BRABUS, the Korean model received a new front face and a new interior from the famous German tuner.

If Hyundai i20 has received at exterior a new face that includes head lights, spotlights, grille and windows changed, but also the 17-inch wheels with Yokohama tires, the interior was completely changed, only the logo on the steering wheel reminded us that we look to a Hyundai interior. The ambience is dominated by gray and orange. Appear Recaro bi-color seats covered with leather, the same material now covering the inside of the doors, the dashboard, the steering wheel, the shift handles and the hand brake. On the other hand, the roof is covered with Alcantara leather. The cherry on the cake is the appearance of a 7-inch display with touch-screen.

Brabus has not yet provided any information regarding the characteristics of the new Hyundai i20 Sport Edition engine. The model will be available for sale in 2011 and will be produced in limited edition.

Citroen presented at Paris Auto Show 2010 new Citroen DS3 WRC model that Sebastien Loeb will compete in the 2011 season of the World Rally Championship.

Citroen DS3 WRC is the Citroen C4 WRC successor and the model that the French manufacturer intends to retain its supremacy in the World Rally Championship in 2011 season, coming to meet the new technical regulation imposed by FIA.

The main technical novelty is represented by the turbocharged engine with direct injection, 1.6-liter, which replacing the aspirated 2.0-liter unit present on Citroen C4 WRC. The engine provides 300 HP at 6,000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm.

The model has a width of 71.6 inches, the highest allowed by regulation, and 18″ wheels. The suspension system, the racing brakes system and the rollover protection system has been completely reconfigured and added to the all wheel drive transmission and to the sequential gearbox with six reports. Also, the brakes are equipped with a cooling system based on water.

Now, Loeb has a very strong car and I think that nobody can beat him in next season. The turbo engine provides more HP and thanks to the ALS system(Anti Lag System) will keep in maximum power all the time.

Volkswagen today unveiled the first official pictures of one of the most anticipated models that will be presented at Paris Auto Show 2010. We talking about new generation of Volkswagen Passat.

27-year of career and more than 15 million cars sold. These are figures from the CV of one of the most popular German models of the past 20 years in Europe and worldwide. It is Volkswagen Passat, which today – at Paris Auto Show – reached to the seventh generation.

DESIGN

New VW Passat have radically change their appearance compared with the previous generation, but the shock is not great for anyone. Reason: VW’s new lines have been admired across the Volkswagen range, starting with the new Scirocco generation, through by Golf, Polo and reaching to the last Phaeton, from which new Passat takes a lot of aesthetic details.

ENGINE

As we are accustomed in recent years at Volkswagen, the prospective customers could choose between three versions of equipment: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Under the hood, they will have a wide range of engines, not less than 10 units are available to the fans of the brand and of the Teutonic model. These goes from 105 to 300 HP, the basic engine – 1.6 TDI 105 HP and 184 lb-ft – coming up with a great consumption: 56 mi/gal. Except the 1.6-liter TDI unit, all other gasoline and diesel engines can be paired with a DSG transmission. This is the standard on the V6 version with 300 HP.

Gasoline – 1.4-liter TSI(122HP), 1.8-liter TSI(180 HP), 2.0-liter TSI(211 HP), V6(300 HP).

Diesel – 1.6-liter TDI(105 HP), 2.0-liter TDI(140 HP), 2.0-liter Blue TDI(140 Hp), 2.0-liter TDI(170 HP).

Ecofuel – GPL

Multifuel – Ethanol, 1.4-liter TSI (160 HP) MultiFuel Twincharger (only for Sweden and Norway).

Paris Auto Show 2010 will mark the beginning of no more than 30 models.  We present you the most important and exciting list of this auto show premieres, concepts or series models. This year’s edition will be marked by the presentation of a large number of electric and hybrid vehicles, but the vehicles powered solely based on non-renewable energy sources are still present in the stands of automakers.

BMW X3

Hated by many, loved by few but respected by all. This would be the phrase that best characterizes the BMW X3. With the arrival of the second generation, the X5′s little brother has grown larger than the first generation of SUVs from BMW and preserves a unique design, that is not appreciated by most of the public. There are big chances that people who bought the first generation of X3 to be interested by this model.

BMW 6 Series Concept

BMW brings the concept that foreshadows the future of 6 Series Coupe at Paris. The model is clearly based on the F10 5 Series and presents an attractive design, which should make headlines in its class. As in the case of the 5 Series, the 6 Series Coupe appearance combine the elegance with sporty and form one of the most beautiful models in the segment. We waiting the series version.

Chevrolet Aveo

Chevrolet enters on the small segment with an Aveo, strong inspired by Aveo RS concept that debuted at Detroit. While the announced performance is not up to high expectations with the RS concept, the new model design and its characteristics should be a small storm in the B segment, where the fighting is already “bloody”.

Citroen C4

The new design language of the guys from Citroen has left the imprint on C4. The French model of the compact class has changed, and his brother DS4 will accompany at the debut at Paris Auto Show. The new design looks nice, the model received more masculine traits, which gives it an extra character.

Ford Focus ST Concept

The death of the current generation of Focus ST is related to non-compliance with Euro 5 rules, but also by the imminent launch of the new generation of Focus. According to first information, the model develops 250 HP and is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with four-cylinder. The Ford officials announced that the model can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds, so the future looks bright.

Opel GTC Concept

The Opel Astra J debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year has led the Opel fans to breathlessly await the coupe version of that model. We remind you that the copy of the picture and the one that will debut at Paris are just concepts, but we expect that the series model to be extremely close to this concept in terms of design.

Peugeot 508

Has finally arrived – say the Peugeot fans, who expected a replacement for 407. The guys from PSA did an experiment with the 508 model, forcing this model to replace both 407 and 607. Both the sedan version and the SW version of 508 will debut at Paris, the hybrid model leaving expected later.

Renault DeZir

This is a new concept of the French from Renault and shows the sporty side of the electric vehicles sporting side. Although there is no information regarding the chances of production of this concept, we hope that certain design features will be introduced in the series models of the French automaker. DeZir is the first project of Laurens van den Acker at Renault, and the first impression is very nice.

Mercedes-Benz CLS

The second generation of CLS begins not as quiet as the first. While the first CLS has created a new segment, the second generation will debut before the public with the new Audi A7 and already has a rival from Porsche. The guys from BMW are expected to launch a competitor, but the guys from Mercedes are confident on CLS.

Volkswagen Passat

New generation of Volkswagen Passat will debut at this edition of Paris Auto Show. The Germans have not yet presented any image with the model, increasing the suspense concerning aspects of their mid-range model. The chances are that the new Passat receives “a face” similar to that present on other Volkswagen models.

Audi R8 GT is the fastest derivative of the supercar from Ingolstadt, equipped with a V10 engine of 560 HP and “skinnier” with 220 pounds. The supercar comes at Paris Auto Show 2010.

The rumors that announcing an extreme version of the current superscar Audi R8 were true, Audi today unveiled the first pictures and the first informations of the newest product from Ingolstadt. Called Audi R8 GT, the fastest derived of the sport model, it is a limited edition that promises enviable performance, worthy of big names such as Lamborghini and Ferrari.

To be able to rise to the most demanding clients, R8 GT has undergone to an intense process of weight reduction, resulting 220 pounds less. We can see the changes also at the exterior, where aerodynamics was amended to provide a better press at hight speeds.

The design is influenced by the black painted front grille, by the extension of carbon front spoiler, by the LED lights for all lights, by the side carbon fiber air intakes and by the new side mirrors. Not missing the special GT logos, the pronounced carbon fiber rear spoiler, the exhausts embedded in the rear bumper, the taillights on a black background and the 19-inch alloy wheels. The supercar will be available in colors like Samoa Orange, Suzuka Gray, Ice Silver and Phantom Black with pearl effect.

The engineers from Ingolstadt were concerned about the resources offered by the V10 5.2-liter propeller, which was modified to deliver a total of 560 HP. The torque has also increased by 7 lb-ft to 398 lb-ft and is available from 6,500 rpm.

The propeller, hand built at Gyor car plant, Hungary, is able to propel the supercar to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and up to 124 mph in just 10.8 seconds. Even so, the cycle average consumption is 17 mi/gal.

The resources are used with a R-tronic sequential manual transmission, while the leaving by the place with all those 560 HP is provided by the Launch Control system. Also, exclusively for the new R8 GT, the Audi engineers have installed a braking system that includes brake calipers with six-piston on front.

Although it weighs just 3,362 pounds, Audi R8 GT include comfort items like electric windows, automatic air conditioning system, navigation system, a sound system signed by Bang & Olufsen, Alcantara leather on seating, but also customization features, such as special materials and GT logos. For the most eccentric, Audi offers a roll cage.

For all these and many other optionals, the price will starts from $250,000.

The R-Design sports division of the the guys from Volvo has prepared a package of major changes for the new S60 and V60. The Sedan and the Wagon receive a new design and a substantially improved road holding.

After they intense promoted new Volvo S60 and follow to present for the public the wagon version of it, called V60, Volvo is concerned and those who expect something more dynamic from the Swedish models. More specifically, the R-Design sports division has prepared a series of important changes for sedan and wagon, which will beat with BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.

The engineering team has substantially changed the direction, which now offers a more precise response and a better feedback. The suspensions were also changed, especially in the rear part, to get a better response and to remove the sensation of rolling. The stiffness of the suspensions has damping increased by 15%, but not very much affect the indoor comfort.

The control system, DSTC has not escaped by the list of changes, a number of new electronic systems, including the already known Corner Traction Control, able to help substantially to close cornering, being recalibrated.

The R-design package can be ordered with all engines currently on the S60 and V60, including even the ecological version, named DRIVe, powered by a diesel engine of 1.6-liters and 115 HP.

The electric version of the current generation of Saab 9-3 will be presented at Paris Auto Show 2010, and the first 70 copies will begin the fleet testing in 2011.

The Swedes from Saab prepared in secret an electric Saab 9-3, a model which they will present at the end of this month at Paris Auto Show. The model was developed with the help of the guys from Boston Power, Electroengine, Innovatum and Power Circle. The name of this model is Saab 9-3 ePower and 70 copies will be provided in a fleet test in 2011. Those copies will provide informations that will help to transform the prototype in a production version in 2015.

The Saab 9-3 ePower engine develops 184 HP and engage the front wheels. The electrical version of Saab 9-3 has a single gear and is equipped with a special transmission, Electroengine and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds and the maximum speed is 93 mph. The autonomy of the model is 125 miles, which sounds promising considering the dimensions and the performance of the model. Given the origins of the Swedish Saab, the 9-3 ePower’s battery can operate at -30 degrees Celsius, with 10 degrees lower than any other electric vehicle batteries announced so far.

The Saab 9-3 ePower’s battery has a capacity of 35.5 kWh and is achieved by using the lithium-ion technology. The batteries are mounted in place of the fuel tank, providing a volume of trunk almost identical to the standard version of 9-3. The guys from Saab said that the weight of batteries does not affect the weight distribution of the 9-3 model and the handling is not affected in any way. The lights and the interior equipment, but also the electro-hydraulic steering and the air conditioning system has a separate power system.

If is the surest mark, why not to be and the most ecological? Volvo announces the unveiling of C30 Electric at Paris Auto Show 2010. More exactly Volvo comes in the green car club, because that is the only direction of the auto trend – friendship with trees and flowers around.

Volvo shows the first 100% electric model, a model that will be unveiled at Paris Auto Show. The car is Volvo C30, called C30 Electric DRIVe. The car is based on the three-door compact version and will be powered by a lithium-ion batteries pack of 24 kW / h. With these batteries, Volvo C30 Electric will have a range of 93 miles and a top speed of only 80 mph. But for this, it takes a full course load of 8 hours. Time from 0-60 mph will make in 10.5 seconds.

Volvo has some experience in electricity, as a partner in Sweden with Goteborg Energi, an electricity provider. The company will test new Volvo C30 Electric in real conditions starting with this fall, and Volvo will produce 50 copies of the electric car in 2011. After thorough testing and improving performance (speed and autonomy), the C30 Electric DRIVe model will be officially on sale since 2012.

It seems that all automakers will bring on the market electric cars for its models.
