Honda 410k scale recall:brake problems for Odyssey and Element
Honda has announced a recall for some 410,000 vehicle due to a defect with the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) module. This is, sadly, official, and seems to perpetuate an ongoing spree of recalls from Asian car makers.
It seems that a high number of cars will be called in for these brake issues, 344,00 Odysseys and 68,000 Elements (MY 2007-2008).
If you are an owner, you will be notified sometime in the following month – April – with a notice to bring your car to a service. Honda did not specify whether this e-mail will contain information about a close-by service able to handle the issue or not, but let’s hope they’ll keep it as professional as possible.
You can also call a hotline if you own one of the affected models from Honda!
- The number is: (800) 999-1009, you have to select option 4.
- A website is also available: www.recalls.honda.com
The issue with the VSA results in a softening sensation through brake pedal and a longer pedal travel that requires owners to apply more pressure to bring their vehicles to a halt. More troubling, it seems that air can leak in due time into the braking system. More details about the problem in the press release.
