Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg presented the new Mercedes SLK at the event that celebrated the 125th anniversary of the first car in the world.

In the special event that celebrated the 125th anniversary of the first car in the world, Mercedes-Benz presented the new SLK. The model was unveiled by Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg alongside the designers who created it.

The elements of this model include special design inspired by SLS AMG, the electromagnetic glazed hard-top roof panel and also the interior inspired from SLS AMG. The German model is offered in the company of three gasoline engines and with a twin turbo 2.1-liters diesel unit that develops 205 HP.

In the future, Mercedes-Benz will offer also a AMG version for new SLK, which will be equipped with a V8 engine and 428 HP. Until then, the top range will be a V6 engine with direct-injection that will deliver 305 HP. Together with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, the model accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The entry-level version is equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that provides 185 HP. The mid-range gasoline model offers 205 HP and uses the same 1.8-liter engine. In the 185 HP version, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is achieved in 7 seconds.

The public debut of this roadster will be at Geneva Auto Show. Mercedes-Benz is the last of the German premium trio that launched its new generation of roadsters.

Caterham unveiled today at Birmingham the SP/300.R model. The extreme creation of the British automaker manage to reach 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, despite having only 305 HP.

Autosport International Show, held in Birmingham these days, noted the beginning of an important niche model. It is about the long-awaited Catheram creation, an entirely new model, named SP/300.R, which will join the existing range, composed by the Roadsport and Superlight models and from the Super Seven model.

The new SP/300.R will take the traditional features of the range: quality, lower maintenance costs and ease of use. Moreover, the model will create a new single brand championship and will be available to all those passionates about the experiences on the track.

To give birth to the aluminum monocoque structure, Caterham has used the help of the guys from Lola, while the aerodynamics and the Hewland sequential transmission with steering wheel paddles were borrowed from Formula 3. The body, composed by seven parts, was constructed from plastic materials, and the 13 inch wheels were shod with Cooper tires.

The newest Caterham member has a length of 165 inches, a wheelbase of 102 inches and a width of 67 inches. The model surprise with a very low height of only 40 inches and the total mass, extremely reduced, only 1202 pounds.

Under the hood is a Duratec engine, Ford provenance, with a capacity of 2.0-liter, supercharged, which has a Rotrex compressor and a new ECU. The engine manage to develop a total of 305 HP at 7,500 rpm, but the special system “push-to-pass “, manage another 30 extra HP.

The British model provides an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph. It should be noted that at 155 mph, the Catheram SP/300.R has a down force of 992 pounds.

New Caterham SP/300.R comes with a limited slip differential, with a signed AP Racing brake system, with an adjustable aerodynamic, also with an adjustable suspension and with roll cage approved by FIA. As an aesthetic special element, must to mention that the new Catheram model has LED lights on front side and also on rear side.

Ford brings at Detroit Auto Show two green versions of the C-Max model: Energi and Hybrid. The first can be recharge at an outlet and the second is like to be a more economical hybrid than Fusion Hybrid.

After the electric Focus revealed yesterday, Ford continues to surprise at Detroit Motor Show by two other ecological models, both developed on the new series version of the C-Max model and also on the C segment platform, scheduled to host 10 different cars in 2014.

The surprises prepared by Ford are called C-Max Energi, the first vehicle can be recharged to an outlet from the Ford range and C-Max Hybrid, a derivative with hybrid drive train. Although the guys from Ford have not published enough informations about the two new models yet, Ford wanted to clarify that the both versions will receive a set of lithium-ion batteries developed in Ford laboratories from Michigan.

The new C-Max Energi promises a total autonomy of 500 miles, but ensures more miles in electric mode, after an outlet, rather than the newest hybrid from Detroit, Chevrolet Volt.

On the other hand, the new C-Max Hybrid wants to be a more economical alternative than the current Ford Fusion Hybrid, which currently guarantees an average consumption of 41 mi/gal and is officially designated the most economical sedan in United States.

The new models will reach on the market until 2012, but Europe will get them somewhere in 2013.

The star from the Volkswagen stand at Detroit Auto Show is the American version of the European Volkswagen Passat. But the model has suffered some significant changes.

The first day of the Detroit Auto Show brings a major wave of premiers at the main automakers. Volkswagen has started with the new sedan, anticipated for long time by specialists and by teasers. Seen as a mid-range sedan able to fight with his rival Toyota Camry, the new German model gets the name of the European Passat.

However, the differences between the European version and the American version are major. The model sold in United States is longer with 3.9 inches and is also wider. Ready to debut in production this summer at the plant from Tennessee, the new Passat has a multi-link rear suspension, similar to the model sold on the Old Continent.

Although at the exterior only the front grille and the taillights reminds the apparent to a different market, significant changes were observed at the interior, where VW has changed the door panels, the dashboard and trim level.

The American Passat comes with three engines. The propulsion of the entry-level version will be provided by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with five-cylinder engine capable to delivering 170 HP at 5,700 rpm. Coupled to a manual gearbox, the new Passat can reach 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. The automatic gearbox will increase this time to 8.7 seconds.

The other gasoline version is a 3.6-liters engine with six cylinders, capable to delivering 278 HP at 6,200 rpm. Guided by a DSG transmission, the propeller can provide a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds.

The production of the new sedan at the plant from Tennessee will help Volkswagen to reduce the costs and to propose an attractive price on the U.S. market, already estimated at $ 20,000.

What does it take for a legendary German maker to make a bluff? French promotional films and Internets, it seems. Despite keeping tight secrecy on the 2012 SLK (well, apart from the spy shots that leaked some time ago), Mercedes-Benz somehow allowed the up-coming killer car to feature this random promo.

Yes, we have the video in this article of course, as well as a few stills from the clip. In them you can see the SLK 2012 in pretty good quality footage, and get a glimpse of it’s features.

Among the features of the newest hardtop convertible compact from Mercedes-Benz you can find the company’s revolutionary AirScarf system, adaptive headlights, a seven-speed automatic transmission and a Magic Sky Control roof that darkens at the touch of a button. The massive start Mercedes logo is found on the  two-door beauty, we wouldn’t want the 2012 SLK to blush in front of the new flagships in the MB family, would we?

Oh by the way, hope you don’t mind French bla-bla… cause the clip is full of it. Seems like the SLK can’t understand a bit either, it just keeps on driving cluelessly.

At last, Audi launched the most power version of the A3 range: 2011 Audi RS3. The interesting fact is that the 5-door version gets it first.

Rumors about Audi RS3 2011 hit the web while ago and even the launch date was speculated around every big auto show of the last two years. Still, Audi have delayed the surprise as much as they could.

Even some spy shots of the Audi RS3 were taken in Ingolstadt, but there were some question marks around them, mainly because the 5-door body. But, the New Audi RS3 was not unveiled as a 3-door hot-hatch, as everyone expected, but as a day-by-day car, in the RS3 Sportback version.

Just like the other models wearing the “RS” logo, 2011 Audi RS3 Sportback does not surprise with an extravagant look, although the intakes in the bumpers make it different from the other cars of the line-up. Otherwise, the aesthetic details resume to the hex front grid, having the RS logo, a new set of side skirts, a decent rear diffuser in the bumper and a pair of new exhausts.

Audi RS3 2011 comes with CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) accessories, both for the spoilers and for the side mirrors or the spoiler. The look is completed by the 19 inch rims, with five spokes finished in titanium, giving the car a dynamic look when 2011 RS3 is moving.

The performances of the car are also at a good level, thanks to the turbocharged engine borrowed from the Audi TT RS bomb. We are talking about the five-cylinder engine, developing a maximum power of 340 HP but also an impressive 332 lb-ft of torque, available between 1,600 and 5,300 rpm.

Therefore, Audi RS3 2011 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 155 mph. The fuel efficiency will not scare the environmental enthusiasts as Audi RS3 scores 26 mpg, and pretty low CO2 emissions. Fair values for the  performances of the engine.

Of course, the Quattro four-wheel drive system we love is not missing, while the transmission is the automatic S-Tronic, with 7 gears and double-clutch. The gearbox can also be controlled from the paddles on the steering wheel, having two automatic modes.

For Audi RS3 Sportback 2011 to have a sporty behavior, the ride hight was lowered 1 inch, and the brake disks have 14.5 inches in the front and 12.2 inches in the rear. New RS3 Sportback features wide tyres, 235/35 R 19 in front and 225/35 R 19 in the rear. The ESP system also has the Sport mode, but it can also be turned off if you want to feel the thrill.

If the exterior of RS3 Sportback is not so aggressive compared to a stock A3, the interior it’s a lot more sporty than the cockpit of a regular A3. First of all, the sports seats stand out, dressed in black Nappa leather, matched with the red stitching. Worth mentioning is the piano-black finishing of the back side of the front seats.

The interior of 2011 Audi RS Sportback is dominated by black, red stitches, but also by the red lights offering the car a sporty look. The steering wheel as a racing design, with a blunt bottom, also with audio and cruise-control. Otherwise the ambiance is dominated by the RS3 logos.

The new model will be built in the Hungarian factory in Gyor, and the starting price in Germany for 2011 Audi RS3 is of  49,900 euros (around $66,500).

The most anticipated racing simulator in history, Gran Turismo 5, is now available in stores. From now on you can virtually test 1,031 cars on 71 different tracks.

After a two and a half years waiting and numerous successive delays, the most anticipated racing simulator – Gran Tursimo 5 – hits today the shelves of the stores. The game was launched in the same time on all the globe’s markets. Starting today, anyone owning a PlayStation4 and if he’s a fan of the genre can tense muscles his muscles on the 71 different tracks testing over 1,000 different cars offered by Polyphony Digital şi Sony.

Among the notable novelties the fifth episode of the Gran Turismo franchise brings are the WRC, NASCAR and Super GT Licenses, the karting mode, the realistic damage simulation both aesthetic and technical, the extreme weather conditions (storms and snow), the possibility of viewing the 3D effects on screens that allow that, premium visual effects, like brake marks, dust and the grass flying-off and not last the possibility of building unique circuits. Another premiere is the apparition of Lamborghini and Bugatti models, which were not available in the last four episodes of the series.

The GT5 Cars

The 1,031 cars featured in the game are the most complex database of models in the history of racing simulators. Besides the newest apparitions in the automotive industry of the last two years, GT5 comes with classic models and concepts that you can only drive here. Among them are Citroen GT Concept, Jaguar XJ13 or the Red Bull X1 concept, developed by Red Bull exclusively for this game. In Gran Turismo 5 you can also test a Fiat 500 F from the 60′s, Lexus LF-A, Mercedes SLS AMG, Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, Tesla Roadster or the legendary Lancia Delta Integrale. The LeMans prototypes or the WRC cars are not missing either.

The cars in the game are split in two categories: Premium and Standard. The difference is that for the standard cars the damages are the classic ones. For the premium cars, the gamer can use the headlights like of a real car, also differing by the complexity of the interior and damage details. The percentage of premium cars available is of 20%.

The GT5 Tracks

From the 51 tracks available in GT4, Polyphony now has 71 in GT5. Here are included the classics  Nurburgring, Circuit de la Sarthe, Tsukuba, Laguna Seca, Monza, Daytona, Indianapolis or Suzuka, but also unique tracks in Rome or Madrid, of course virtual ones. There are also visionary tracks like Trial Mountain or Deep Forest Raceway, and the user can add or remove a few things, as the new GT5 allows it.

Grand Turismo 5, the latest episode of the most realistic racing simulator is set to launch in days, so the Americans have released the first commercal for the game that will let you drive over 1,000 cars.

Gran Turismo 5 is already announced to be a delight for the fans of racing simulators, with over 1,000 cars and 71 tracks including real tracks from WRC, NSACAR and FIA GT. To all this madness is added the famous gameplay of the Gran Turismo series, which, most of the times, gives you the realism of racing in the finest details. But the new innovation is the 3D Gameplay adding even more realism to your driving experience.

The long awaited Gran Turismo 5 game will hit the shelves of the North American stores on November 24th. Since the launch of the first version, back in 1997, the software was permanently improved by adding new car models. In the new GT5 the user will be able to choose from over 1,000 cars, including NASCAR models. Whether we’re talking about the tracks or the weather conditions, all these features were revised in order to generate the same pleasing driving experience, based on the power offered by the new processors.

The Gran Turismo 5 PS3 commercial starring Kevin Butler, the marketing character used by Sony Computer Entertainment as part of their Dear PlayStation advertising campaign for the PlayStation 3 in North America, finds the guy leaving with the test cars used for making the GT5 so realistic.
