The Renault Group, owner of Dacia, and Nissan have inaugurated, Wednesday, in India, the first car production center of the alliance, according to Renault-Nissan. The construction of the factory involved an investment of almost one billion dollars, the factory having a production  capacity of 400.000 units per year.
The factory will start the production in may, and the first developed model will be Nissan Micra. The car will be sold in India, but also in over 100 states in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Ghosn, chief executive at Nissan was planing this move since last year.
“I am absolutely convinced about not only the potential of the internal market in India, but also the potential of India as an exporter and also the potential of India as an important participant to the engineering effort and product planning effort of the group,” Mr. Ghosn said at the time. “That’s why you are going

This can be called a possible future giant of the international car market. At least if we would take what Max Warburton, analyst at market research firm Sanford C. Bernstein, said for granted. The analyst says Renault, is trying to persuade Daimler to join the alliance that the French automotive group has with the Japanese Nissan, through an acquisition or shares exchange.
Talks between the leaderships of the two groups are more ample and advanced than might be expected, said Warburton, quoting sources close to the situation.
Renault and Daimler announced in December 2009 that they are discussing about a possible partnership regarding programs for small cars and other technologies.

The German auto maker gave some hints about the idea of a collaboration to improve the profitability of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Smart categories, by sharing the costs necessary to develop new cars and engines.
An investment in shares of Renault would enhance financial and

According to BusinessWeek, Renault-Nissan’s CEO Carlos Ghosn declared recently that his company allready has some 56,000 orders placed for the Leaf in the United States. The Leaf is an all-electric small car that is going on sale towards the end of this year, however real mass production only starts in 2012.
Frankly, I mean so far there is no competition. Let’s be serious. It’s not because someone is coming with a prototype and one car that this is competition. The question is how much capacity are you building.
said Ghosn.
By 2012 Nissan-Renault management plans to have some 500,000 electronic vehicles up and running in Japan, Europe and the United States. Reservations have been quite good for the little Leaf from the get-go, however this number still sounds a bit too good to be true-ish. Still, let’s not get pessimistic here: if numbers posted by Nissan are true than we

The new Renault Wind Roadster dropped it’s top for the Geneva Auto Show, taking everything that we love about two-seat convertible motoring and puts it in a more functional, compact, everyday-drivable package.
The Wind’s roof panel is operated by a power mechanism that flips the roof back 180 degrees and stows it under the rear trunk lid. The duration of this funky process? Only 12 seconds, a fortnight in fairy time. No really, joke apart, time matters when that rain starts pouring down and the missus just had a hair-do. This is different, and in many ways a lot cooler, than competitiors like the Honda Civic Del Sol or the Pontiac Solstice Coupe.
The most specific aspect about the Renault Wind Roadster convertible is how compact the car can be. I mean not just some atribute-type-of-car-something, really compact as a quality. Actually, it’s the size of the

2010 marks the 80th edition of the Geneva Motor Show, which will bring more than 30 world premieres and many other debuts in Europe. Mibz.com presents you a list of the new cars in this edition, structured on brands.
The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most important auto events of the year and one of the three auto shows the car makers should not miss if they want to build themselves a name on the market in Europe. Despite the assumptions that announced a difficult year for the automobile industry, 2 and 3 March will bring a high number of car debuts, some of them global and others in Europe, all following the same ecological trend of the recent years. Also, the car makers will continue to apply the worldwide trend of downsizing, which is focused on reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption while the models on which this strategy was implemented
