A unit of the fastest Ferrari in history was seriously damaged on a highway in Germany. The driver lost control of the car at 130 kph and hit the protection fence.

Even though is one of the rarest exotic apparitions of the moment (only 599 units being scheduled for production), it seems Ferrari 599 GTO is not immune to unpleasant incidents. Tagged as the most powerful and fastest Ferrari ever made, 599 GTO has all the ingredients of an exotic car crash.

A unit of the Maranello supercar ended bad on a highway in Germany. Behind the steering wheel of the Ferrari 599 GTO involved in the crash was Peter Stoll, Honorary Consul in El Salvador, established in Germany. It seems that Stoll tried to overtake another car, at a speed of 130 kph, and lost the control of the Italian supercar, hitting the protection fence.

The driver had no serious injuries, but the Ferrari 599 GTO is not looking too nice after the crash. Stoll will fix the car with the help of Ferrari, but until everything is solved, the German will have to drive a Maserati.

This is not the first crash of a Ferrari 599 GTO, as the Italian supercar was involved in an easier accident, in Great Britain. Chris Evans’ 599 GTO was hit in the parking lot by a friend. The only damages to the car were some scratches of the spoiler.

Mansory prepared a tuning package for the Ferrari 458 Italia supercar. Named Siracusa, the package comes with a bit more power under the hood and carbon fiber aerodynamic elements.

Mansory have built a special tuning kit for Ferrari 458 Italia, named Siracusa. The package includes both aesthetic and technical tweaks.  Thanks to the revisions of the guys specialized in tuning exotic models, Ferrari 458 Italia Siracusa now features 590 HP and a torque of 560 Nm. Now, the Italian supercar sprints from 0 to 100 kph in 3.2 seconds and tops 330 kph.

The aerodynamic kit, designed by Mansory, is based on carbon fiber materials and features: a front bumper extension, rear diffuser, an small spoiler and air intakes for the thresholds. According to Mansory, the elements manage to increase the downforce on both axles, even though 458 Italia now weighs in 70 kg less than stock.

The tuner also prepared 20″ rims for the front and 21″ for the rear, wearing Michelin PS2 performance tires. The suspension was modified too, for enhanced handling. Inside, the Suracusa package brings custom leather trim, and a series of carbon fiber insertions.

1. LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR

This Supercar was waiting by a lot of people, especially by the Lamborghini fans. The Murcielago successor came to Geneva Auto Show 2011 after his previously announced by a series of teasers that have gradually ”dressed” the Italian model, over the recent weeks. The model of the automaker from Sant’Agata Bolognese comes with a V12 engine, with 700 HP and with interesting figures in the column entitled “Performance”: 2.9 seconds for 0-60 mph and 217 mph maximum speed.

2. FERRARI FF

The latest model in the Ferrari range does not replace any previous model. From a simple reason: it is an absolute new model for the Italian automaker. We talking about the first Ferrari model in the history that comes with four wheel drive system and with fours seats, elements that are considered strange by many fans of the brand. However, the interesting Shooting Brake design, the V12 engine and the 660 HP promise that the Ferrari FF model will quickly find the buyers.

3. PAGANI HUAYRA

Many of those guys present at Geneva Motor Show 2011 have called Pagani Huayra the most exciting Supercar released at Geneva. And this is the true, while the car comes into already known Horacio Pagani design and have under the hood a V12 engine that can develops 700 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque. And, more interesting is that the Italian model has a mass of only 2,970 pounds.

4. Koenigsegg AGERA R

The Swedes from Koenigsegg have presented their new Supercar, named Agera R. We are talking about a Supercar made and constructed in 100% sporty spirit, destinate for the performance on the road. Under the hood, Agera R comes with a twin turbo V8 engine that develops 1115 HP and 886 lb-ft of torque. We don’t have the 0-60 acceleration performance, but the maximum speed that can reach new Koenigsegg Agera R is 273 mph. This however, will be electronically limited to “only” 233 mph.

5. ASTON MARTIN VIRAGE

The new Aston Marin Supercar, named Virage is a model that infiltrating between DB9 and DBS. Obviously, we see another Aston Martin with sexy lines and in the same time with elegant lines, but under the hood Virage comes with a V12 6.0-liter engine that can develops 510 HP. The first four wheel drive and four seats model in the history of Ferrari have taken over the booth the Italian brand have installed at Geneva Motor Show 2011.

Ferrari FF is the model that everyone expected to show up at the Swiss show. The Italian model – first in Ferrari history with all-wheel drive and four seats – have been and is still considered a freak of nature, some artificial creation that has the role to improve Ferrari’s sales and nothing more. Lot of journalists have compared Ferrari FF with Porsche Cayenne, as the fans had the same reaction when the German SUV was launched.

But it’s certain that models like Ferrari FF will continue to appear in the coming years, as all big automakers seem to also focus on the niche markets to get a bigger slice of the pie. So, whether you like it or not, Ferrari FF will sell. And the Italians know that.

Ford will sue Ferrari for using the F150 name for their Formula 1 car, a name close the the one used by the Americans for one of their pick-up trucks.

Rumor has it that a Ford vs Ferrari lawsuit was confirmed this week.

Ford decided to sue Ferrari, saying that the Italians are fraudulently using the F150 acronym for the car that competes in the 2011 Formula 1 season, as the Americans have registered in 1995 the F-150 brand for one of their pick-ups they sell in US. Ford wants the judges to forbid Ferrari F1 Team to import, produce or sell products with the F150 name in US.

Ferrari uses the F150 name “in order to capitalize on and profit from the substantial goodwill that Ford has developed in the F-150 trademark, and in order to trade off of Ford’s famous and winning trademark,” said Ford Officials in the suit.

As well, Ford seeks $100,000 in damages for Ferrari have registered the ferrarif150.com domain, the official site of the 2011 Ferrari F1 car. In addition, Ford also sued the North American sales division of Ferrari, despite the fact it is not involved in the Italian’s Formula 1 program.

Ferrari F1 Team decided to name their 2011 car F150 in order to symbolize 150 years since the reunification of Italy.

Ferrari FF stands for Ferrari Four,  well… Ferrari Ferrari Four.

Probably the Italians worked hard to develop the Ferrari FF, and when they had to choose a name for it they had an inspiration breakdown. Ok, no more mean words, for the moment. We are talking about a four seats and four wheel drive coupe. An exotic combination that is a premiere for the Italian automaker. A veritable GT – Gran Turismo coming from Maranello.

For Ferrari, the new model is not both an evolution and revolution. The body of FF is a reminiscent of the shooting break elegance. The front of the Ferrari FF gets its inspiration from 458 Italia, while the rear is an evolution of 599 GTB. But when it comes to taking a look from the side, the Italian supercar reminds us of BMW Z3 M Coupe.

Under the hood, it’s a 6.3-liter V12 engine developing 660 HP at 8,000 rpm and a torque of 683 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The double-clutch gearbox was fitted on the rear axle for an optimum weight distribution. Ferrari FF boasts about a 2,7 kg/HP ratio, the best ratio in its segment. As about the performances of the new supercar, the Italians have announced a 0 to 100 kph sprint in 3,7 seconds and a top speed of 335 kph.

The absolute novelty is the four wheel drive. The Ferrari Four’s system is called 4RM, was entirely developed by Ferrari and offers the advantage of low weight, about 50% lighter than a conventional four wheel-drive system. The 4RM system sends 53% of the power to the rear axle. The Barembo carbon-ceramic brake system is among the premieres.

As for the the room inside the new Ferrari FF, the Italian GT has a trunk of 400 L, extendable to 800 L. The model will debut at Geneva Motor Show 2011.

Today, at 13:00 CET Ferrari have revealed their 4 seats model. They called it Ferrari Four and it looks like the perfect combination between their latest models. So Porsche Panamera be aware.

They new Ferrari Four is the supercar for the ones that want to offer their family the greatest ride. With a front inspired by the already famous Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari Four is powered by a naturally-aspired 6.3-liter V12 engine that develops not less than 660 HP at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 683 Nm 6,000 rpm.

The brand new Ferrari model is able of neck-breaking sprints as it hits 100 kph from a standing start in just 3.7 seconds, while the top speed is of 335 kph. With dimensions placing it in the GT sports cars class (4,9 meters long, 1,95 meters wide and 1,38 meters high), the FF looks like the perfect rival for the German’s Porsche Panamera.

The New Ferrari FF is the first four-wheel drive car of the Prancing Horse, featuring the 4RM system that mated with an F1 double-clutch gearbox that sends 53% of the V12′s horsepower to the rear axle and transforms this four seats supercar in a road torpedo. FF has a weight of only 1,790 kg and the Ferrari patented 4RM weighs in 50% less than a conventional four-wheel drive system. Ferrari Four’s weight distribution is close to perfection: 43% front and 53% rear.

As about the looks of the FF, it looks like Pininfarina did a great job, making the GT supercar one of the most comfortable Ferrari cars ever made, with a luggage space of 400 L (extendable to 800 L), being able to accommodate four passengers.

FF is the abbreviation for Ferrari Four, but it also stands for “Four-wheel” drive and “Four seats.” The customers can choose from up to six special shades for the body of FF.

Officially, we are facing a well-kept secret, as the Maranello automaker refused to offer any details about what we are going to see. Even so, the rumormill is working and it seems that we could see a successor of the famous Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, or, rather, a replacer. Because the Italians are preparing a unique model. More precisely a two-door shooting brake which gets its influences from Ferrari 458 Italia (the front0, Ferrari 599 GTB/GTO (the rear) and California (the interior). I know it sounds a bit complicated for may of us, but the result will be a truly unique supercar.

And if the looks don’t impress you, then the specs would sure do. A new 12 cylinder engine will deliver over 640 HP (the exact power is not yet known), with a double-clutch seven-gears gearbox handling the transmission affairs. And if this is not impressive for you, learn that the new model features a four wheel drive system, that allows the driver to us rear-wheel drive at speeds of over 85 mph.

The Brit journalists of Autocar suggests that Ferrari is working at mind-reading technology that monitories the physical and psychical condition of the driver. Depending on it, the control unit would adjust the traction and stability system.

The new technology was patented at a global level. It looks like Ferrari wants to develop this technology in order to allow the car to automatically adjust all the systems depending on driver’s condition. The Italian Scuderia declared that the drivers have a tendency to overrate their driving abilities, and when they go “sport”, they express a wish without taking into account their state of mind.

The new technology would mean a series of senors that will measure and sent to the control unit a number of biometric and psychometric parameters. Among the sensors there’s a video camera that measures the blinking rate of the driver, sensors to measure the heart beats, blood pressure and body temperature. The sensors will allow the car to analyze the driver’s physical and psychical condition and tell if he is able or not to continue his “journey.”

The sensors will be fitted in the roof, dashboard, seats and steering-wheel. The new technology can be used to reduce the accidents number, but also to improve the driving style.
