OFFICIAL: Ferrari 599 GTO – The Fastest Road Ferrari In History

With 670 HP and 3.35 seconds for 0-60 mph, the new Ferrari 599 GTO will promises to be a top candidate for list of performance supercars for enthusiasts in the next years.

Ferrari has unveiled today one of the best models in its history. We talking about much long-awaited 599 GTO, based on the model with the same prefix called 599 GTB Fiorano.

The supercar adopt the same V12 with a 6-liter engine, which was however modified to develop 670 HP at 8250 rpm. The power increased by 50 HP thanks to new intake system and exploitation, including torque of 457 lb-ft at 6500 rpm. The torque was possible thanks to F1 transmission gear which has six reports able to change gears in just 50 milliseconds. The model with 12 cylinders in V promises an average consumption of 13.4 mi/gallon and emissions of 411 g / km, the engine rises to the new Euro 5 standards.

Ferrari has turned his attention to the total weight, managing to undergo the supercar to an intense process of losing weight. The “diet” has 599 new GTO to a weight of only 3296 pounds, making the ratio weight/power to achieve an excellent value: 2.23. Such promises equation enviable performance: the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is achieved in 3.35 seconds and top speed exceeding 208 mph.

New 599 GTO has the merit to introducing a series of technological innovations on the supercars market. We refer here to the second generation of carbon ceramic brakes with a protective surface, able to increase aerodynamic efficiency and improve cooling. Improved braking system help to stop the new 599 GTO from 60 to 0 mph in just 1280 inchs. The supercar propose a new magnetic suspension, taken to the limit for road use as normal. Additionally, Michelin has prepared a set of new tires, called Supersport, with dimensions of 285/30 ZR20 on front and 315/35 ZR 30 on rear. The Italian engineers also modified the direction for a more prompt response, and the F1-Trac traction control comes at an evolved version.

At the interior, the exclusive model comes with an improved communication interface VRE (Virtual Race Engineer), constantly transmitting information about the driver on the circuit performances. Either nor the famous “manettino” has not escaped by the changes, the engineers replacing the ICE function with CT-Off.

The new Italian supercar will be built in only 599 copies, each able to travel to the Fiorano circuit in a time of 1 minute and 24 seconds. The first live show of the new 599 GTO will be held at the Beijing Auto Show, where Ferrari will announce the starting price.
