The Electric Tata Nano To Make Its Market Debut In 2012

Tata announced they have plans to launch on the market a production version of the electrical model, Nano EV, no later than 2012.

The Indian car builder, Tata, has started be more and more present on the Old Continent, which means that an event like the Geneva Motor Show could not be missed. The Indians have decided to exhibit at their booth, their famous Nano, of course, the European version, and its electric version.

The new Nano EV, as he was named by the officials, intends to make its debut two years from now, that is in 2012.

Ravi Kant, Executive Director of Tata, said: “Electrification will be an integral part of our initiative to launch environment-friendly vehicles. The Indica Vista EV will be introduced in select European countries, beginning this year.  We will progressively introduce electric vehicles in all relevant markets.”

The new Nano EV works with an electric motor, kept alive by a set of super polymer lithium-ion batteries. The resources provided by electric motor, still unknown to the public, will help urban model to reach 60 mph in less than 10 seconds. Even so, unofficial sources say that battery life will reach a value of 100 miles.

During Geneva Motor Show, Tata also revealed that the European version of his Nano comes with a 8 inches longer body, 1with an improved suspension and with ABS braking system.
