Hispano Suiza Based On Audi R8, The 750 HP Supercar, To Come At Geneva 2010
This year’s Geneva Motor Show 2010 edition will witness a new attempt to resuscitate of the Hispano Suiza brand, which will present a supercar with 750 HP and a price in euros, multiplied by 1,000. Interesting!
Last time when we heard about Hispano Suiza was at the beginning of this millennium, when they were presented HS1 and K8 concepts, made by Mazel Engineering, the company that owns the rights over the Hispano Suiza name. But, those concepts have not resulted in some production models, not even few of them, and Hispano Suiza entered again in obscurity.
Now, at Geneva 2010, the brand is back, presenting a new concept, for which the manufacturing plans are already serious. The car will hit the roads in the summer of 2010 and in 2011 we will witness the convertible version, too. This will raise the interest of a sufficient number of potential customers.
Which will recive an attractive-enough recipe: aluminum chassis, a central engine, four wheel drive, an impressive enough gauge (197 inches long and 79 inches wide) and up to 900 HP. The first version proposed is a 5.2-liter V10 engine with two compressors, which develops 750 HP and 516 lb-ft, announcing the performance of 3.4 seconds from 0-60 mph and 205 mph maximum speed.
The second version has a hybrid powertrain, the V10 engine combined with an electric motor, positioned in front, bringing the total maximum power to not less than 900 hp.
Well, both the engine and transmission characteristics, the car architecture and the look suggest a very clear basis: Audi R8 V10 (and hybrid version of the Hispano Suiza supercar could be based on the Audi R8 e-Tron concept). But unlike the German car, the bill for the new Hispano Suiza torpedo is nearly five time bigger, begining from $943,000.
