The New BMW Z4 GT3 Hits The Track!
The BMW presented the first photos of the the Z4’s competition version. The model develops 480 HP from a 4.0-liter V8 engine derived from that that equips the M3 and features a six-speed sequential transmission.
The Germans at BMW have disclosed the official pictures and the technical details of the competition version of the Z4, which receives the GT3 suffix. This model is based on the current generation BMW Z4 E89 and is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that lies under the hood of the M3 E92, modified to develop around 480 HP. The tag for this model is around $403,000.
The V8 engine of this model is equipped with the 408 ECU, which helps the car develop special performances, and other devices are controlled by the Power400 unit. The Z4 GT3’s transmission is a six-speed sequential and is developed for motorsport.
The first team to present the BMW Z4 GT3 competition model is Schubert Motorsport. The pictures attached to this article were taken on the Paul Ricard circuit, during the preliminary tests to tune the competition model based on Z4. For the moment, the BMW team have not announced the possibility of launching a street version of this model, but this is not necessarily excluded, the best example being the BMW M3 GT3 and it’s street version – M3 GTS.
