2010 Volkswagen Polo GTI – Golf GTI Shape, Ibiza Cupra Soul

Volkswagen has published today the first pictures and information of the new Polo GTI, the cadet of the performance range, that gets on the trails of his older brother Golf GTI.  Under the hood there are 177 horses, bridled by a DSG gearbox.

Volkswagen officially unveiled today the performance version of the little Polo. Named, how else than GTI, the sporty subcompact will make its official debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show, where will be admired along with his elder brother, Volkswagen Touareg, in two body styles: three and five-doors.

The cadet of the performance range comes powered by a 1.4-liter petrol TSI engine able to provide up to 177 HP. The resources are exploited via a DSG transmission with seven speeds, while the roadholding is improved by an XDS electronic differential, similar to the one installed on the concern brother, Seat Ibiza Cupra. To control the additional power, Volkswagen has lowered the ride hight with 0.6 inches and stiffened the suspension for extra safety.

Just like its predecessor, the new Polo GTI copies the “fashion look” of his elder brother, Golf GTI. The exterior appearance is so dominated by the massive 17-inch aluminum wheels, the side skirts, the bumpers extensions and by the traditional honeycomb grille with a red outline.

Inside, the customers will benefit from the textile seats, with the same colors pattern as that of brother Golf, as well as a sports steering wheel with three spokes.
