Loeb and Hirvonen Hope To Win The WRC Title In 2010
Sebastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen have expressed their desire to win the world title in the 2010 WRC season.
Sébastien Loeb have authoritatively dominated the WRC in the past six seasons, but the fight for the last years world title was intense in the light of the results obtained by Mikko Hivonen, the Ford Team driver. The Finn missed the world title in the last stage, when it was surpassed by Loeb with only one point.
The two rivals have already recharged their batteries for the 2010 season and Loeb admits that the only motivation to continue in the WRC at the moment is to conquer the seventh world title.
“For sure, if I’m here it’s because I want to continue. I like what I do. I want to win and do my best. I had a lot of pleasure from the fight with Mikko [Hirvonen] last year. I don’t want to share the trophies, but Mikko will be very motivated and it will be a tough fight this year,” the French explained.

Olivier Quesnel, Citroen Racing Team boss, has already drawn a clear objective of Loeb for 2010: to repeat his last years performance and won seven of the 13 stages of the season. “Nothing has changed for this year. We set out aiming for the championships again, of course. We have set Sebastien the target of winning seven rallies this year,” Quensel declared.
On the other side, Hirvonen says that results he got last year are an additional motivation for the fighting for title this year, although he admits that it will not be easy to beat Loeb. “Last year made me want it even more, it makes me more determined,” he said. “It’s easy to look back and think about how we could do things differently, but that’s all behind. We will be stronger this year,” said the Finn.
The new WRC season will begin on February 12th, with the Rally of Sweden.
