Saab’s U.S. fans protested in front of GM headquarters hopping that they will convince corporate’s executives not to close Swedish brand.

Owners and representatives of Saab dealers in the United States gathered in front of GM headquarters in Detroit for a rally in favor of their preferred brand. They have brought with them their Saabs, along with banners emblazoned with the message “Sell Saab/Save Saab”, hoping that the Trollhattan brand will be closed by the Americans from GM. Despite the adverse weather conditions, about 50 demonstrators gathered outside the Reinassance Center building in Detroit, which is the General Motors headquarter.

The protesters hope that GM directors are considering the possibility of saving Saab by selling the brand to the Dutch from Spyker. In addition to this protest, Saab owners and enthusiasts have made several steps in an attempt to convince GM not to close the Swedish brand. Among these measures we can mention sending letters to government officials and signing a petition in which they promised that they will not buy any GM product if the Saab will be closed.

The General Motors directors will meet on January 7 to determine if they sell Saab, or if they continue its resources sales process  and then close the brand. GM has discussed both with those of Spyker Cars, and the Swedes from Koenigsegg. Unfortunately, Koenigsegg have not managed to obtain the funds needed to purchase Saab, but they expressed their willingness to hold the brand.
