The Indian market has won over Japan, the Associated Press reports. becoming the biggest player in the little car industry. Declining sales in Western markets coupled with robust growth in Asia redraws the global map of the auto industry faster than many expected.

After it overtook Japan in 2007 as the number one producer of basic cars, India has now won this title too. China is a big competitor too for the small car sales race, but for now India is the big champ. Thanks to the Tata too, for sure…

Foreign investors were another decisive factor, companies like like Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen, General Motors, and China’s Shanghai Automotive Industries Corp. have been investing a lot in the Indian market in hope to establish themselves as top players. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been poured into designing, building, advertising and selling small  cars and compacts.
