Luxury carmaker Spyker-second chance for Saab?
After Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg dropped it’s bid for Saab, like we already informed you, a second chance arises for General Motors to sell the brand. This might mean a stop to GM’s problems in selling (to be read: gettin` rid of) the former Swedish brand. But who is the buyer?
That would be Spyker Cars, a half hand-made half customized all luxury car maker from Holland. A Spyker carmaker existed from the 1880s, but this rreborn company was founded by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn in 1999, and since 2000 has been building exclusive sports cars like the C8 and the C8 Laviolette. Spyker’s history of producing airplane engines is reflected in details in these new cars as well as in the logo.
Did Spyker make a deal already to GM for Saab? Hard to tell, but we do not hey seem interested. A spokesman for Spyker said the Dutch auto maker was interested in Sweden’s Saab and was talking to GM but declined to say whether it had submitted a bid.
Spyker produced only 43 cars last year, but all of them sold in an instant. And we’re talking of prices above 200k Euros. This seems however a big move, as Saab is a more peculiar brand but still a mass production one. So will they convert it to a luxury brand only?

Interesting enough, both Saab and Spyker were initially flight engine and planes producers.More confusion or a second chance for Saab? We’d like to think it’s the the last, but time will tell. And we will spread the word. Let’s think positive, and, as Spyker’s motto goes: “For the tenacious, no road is impassable”.
