OFFICIAL: Lotus City Car To Enter Production In 2013
Now, it’s official: Lotus will produce the City Car model, in three versions, staring October 2013.
Lotus presented, this year, at Paris Motor Show, not less than five new concepts. All five concepts attracted the public’s interest, but there, at the Parisian show, there was a sixth model, ignored by all, Lotus City Car.
According to Dany Bahar, CEO of Lotus, City Car will see the sun light in October 2013.
Lotus City Car uses a platform developed for a hybrid drive train, the British automaker promising an exceptional fuel mileage. Under the hood, a three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine recharges the batteries for the electric motor, both mated with the the same six-gears transmission. According to the informations so far, Lotus City Car is capable of running in the city in the full-electric model, while the thermal engine comes in only if his assistance is needed.
Lotus wants to build three versions for City Car, one for Asia, an European version and probably a sporty model. But what about US?
