We all heard the rumors that Kimi Raikkonen will not hold the steering wheel in his hands in 2010

and almost all of us had the same opinion: “what a waste of talent!” But it seems we were all wrong. It seems that after all Raikkonen will race next year, but it will not be a Formula 1 monopost. He will drive a Citroen in the World Rally Championship.

They say that Ferrari and Kimi had a deal, the Fin was getting $25 million just to sit out in the upcoming Formula 1 season, with a clause saying that Raikkonen will only get $18 million from Ferrrai if it is to sign for another team.

Anyway someone close to the former Formula One driver told wrc.com that Kimi Raikkonen is close to a deal with the Citroen Total World Rally Team, who’s main sponsor is Red Bull, and also the personal sponsor of the Fin, so it seems is not just a coincidence that Kimi is joining Citroen WRC Team.

The deal seems to be very close, the same source saying that only small details hold the former F1 world champion from driving Citroen’s C4.

But this would not be the first time when Raikkoen would jump in a WRC car. This year, he took the start int he Rally of Finland, driving a Abarth Grande Punto S2000 and finishing 15th, even though he had some engine issues. At Citroen WRC, Raikkonen will team up with the legend Sebastian Loeb, six-time World Rally Champion.
