Ford Fiesta S2000 Officially Launched – The Ford And M-Sport Pordigy

After nine months of hard work, “parents” Ford and the race tuner M-Sport unveiled in front of the journalists, at a ceremony held in England, the new Ford Fiesta S2000, the first global car dedicated to rally.

The new Ford Fiesta S2000 was built to race in the national rally championships, in IRC and S2000 World Cup. The car will be homologated in January 2010. Even so, th public debut will be made in the last race of the IRC series, the Rally of Scotland, next weekend.

The M-Sport engineering team and the Ford small cars team, gathered and applied the know-how of the Ford Focus RS WRC, to extract the most dynamic and aggressive rally car in his class. Actually, the Ford and M-Sport joint started back in ’70s, when the magnificent Ford Escort Cosworth was brought on the rally stage.

The new Ford Fiesta S2000 succeeds the successful Fiesta R-2 model, released in the beginning of this year, the new car having over 2,000 miles of intense testing, and the M-Sport officials are very pleased with the promising results of the new Ford rally car.
