The production-ready Volvo S60 sedan bears close resemblance to the stunning S60 Concept that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show nearly a year ago. Here are high-res pictures of the new Swedish wheels to feast upon. In contrast to the concept who raised negative feedback regarding the strange doors and panoramic roof that was just too much for usual folks. Volvo listened to the customers and made so needed improvements to the S60, which is a fine car all-in-all though I personally see it… not Volvo-like.

Seen from it’s beginnings in early 2000 as a “compact executive sedan”, the S60 marked a move from the boxy, solid and right angled cameo imagery of Volvos up to that point. The series received mixed reviews, however Volvo marketed the car as heralding a “Revolvolution.” Same with the new 2010 sedan.

The concept info told us, back then, that the new S60 will be powered by four-cylinder 1.6L petrol engine using highly-efficient Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDi) developed by Ford (mechanical clone of the new Ford EcoBoost 1.6L engine). The new sedan will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March, with production slated to begin at Volvo’s plant in Belgium early next summer. Be sure that that’s when, or earlier as we always try, you will receive more information on the new Volvo petit.
