BMW Will Launch 1-Series New Generation Next Year At Frankfurt
BMW is preparing to launch the new generation of 1 series model at the Frankfurt Motor Show next year. The compact model will take the new three and four cylinder engines.
Aging of the current BMW 1 Series generation will force the Germans to launch a new generation next year, official debut is scheduled in September of next year, at the Motor Show in Frankfurt. Known as F20 code , the future 1 series will be developed on a completely new rear-wheel drive platform, named L7, which will certainly accommodate the future 3 Series.
As expected, the new premium compact will increase in length and width, the new sizes will allow a considerable increase in space for back passengers. Variants with five and three-door body will be preserved along with the coupe and convertible, but the absolute novelty is the introduction of a family derived, most likely a Gran Turismo, given the German experience in this segment.
Under the hood, the audience will meet a different BMW. Munich laboratories on this occasion will bring the new generation of three and four-cylinder engines. A world premiere will make the 1.2-liter turbo engine, available in several versions of power from 75 HP and finishing with 185 HP.
For diesel fans, there will be a three-cylinder unit, twin-turbocharged of 1.5 liters, capable of providing between 95 and 177 HP. High end unit will be provided by the turbo petrol, 2.0-liter engine, which will offer two versions of power: a 204 and a 238 HP.
