First 2011 Hyundai Sonata Wagon SPY SHOTS!
The new Hyundai Sonata (click for a what was in March the first teaser!) is highly awaited in a wagon model, and after some renderings were published (not official, not even too good actually…) we finally have real spy shots of the Hyundai i40 Kombi / Sonata wagon.
This car seen in he shots will most probably be a 2011 model, but time will tell for sure how fast Hyundai make the move. The first noticeable aspect of the wagon variant of the Sonata is that is looks a lot like the 4door model. Hyundai designers appear to have opted for more of a sporty slant-back look like the Audi Avant wagons than the more utilitarian box we typically get from Volvo.
When the Hyundai 2011 Sonata Wagon launches, firstly in Europe, it will most probably use the i40 Kombi name. A sedan model of the new Sonata is also to follow some time after the wagon is launched. Also observable in the photos is that the grille is different from the North American version of the Sonata, which may mean that the wagon won’t make it to the States at all. Plus the different treatment around the base of the A-pillar. At least on this prototype, the Euro-version has chrome trim that wraps around the mirror, while the chrome on the American variant extends straight down to the trailing edge of the headlamp cluster. We do hope that Hyundai take into account all the potential buyers of a more roomy wagon-like variant of the Hyundai Sonata.
So why not make an effort and contact Hyundai here to share your wish for a wagon model for the United States? Or just random thoughts, feedback is always appreciated.
