NHTSA Investigates Mercedes E-Class Airbag Problems
The Mercedes E-Class W211 airbags will be investigated by the experts from NHTSA.The models which might have problems are those made between 2005 and 2006.
The American organization NHTSA investigating the Mercedes E-Class airbags sold in the United States, especially the units produced between 2005 and 2006. The problem which is studying by the American specialists is a connector where the airbag catch, which could be damaged.
Although it received four complaints in this regard, no Mercedes customer was not injured in an accident in which was involved an E-Class W211.

The Mercedes-Benz spokesman of the United States, Robert Moran, told that the problem could occur if the driver rotate the wheel at maximum and if that connector comes up in the respectively moment. In respectively time, the driver is warned with the airbag dashboard led and one of two error codes helps to find this fault.
Since December 2005, the German automaker has replaced that with one long cable to avoid any problems which might face its customers. However, if the Americans from NHTSA believes that need a recall, could be involved almost 100,000 units.
There is a risk that the CLS models built between 2006 and 2010 have the same problem, but the guys from NHTSA have not announced a checking for them, yet.
The respectively error codes are 9103 and 9123, although the Mercedes customers from Europe are not affected by this problem.
